Okay so ive been stripping my block for the past week and i have a few questions for u guys. I have the whole block disassembled and plan on hot tanking it this week before i start the rebuild. i have a few questions concerning some parts and ill show you what im talking about.

#1: I want to make sure this is a safe place or right way to store my parts.
the crank isnt like his anymore, its standing on the flywheel side straight up and down. since wood is softer it shouldn't warp my crank right?

heres the crank now. can anyone see any problems? if so please let me know.

#2: Any sings of crank walk? i cant see any sort of wear on the thrust bearing, but maybe someone else can?
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1/Rich2713/Project%20GSX/1102091607.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1/Rich2713/Project%20GSX/1102091607a.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
#3: heres the valves, one of the pictures of the other side didnt up load, ill try to get it on here asap. these are the valves on the left side (passenger side when head is installed) Any visible signs of bent valves?
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1/Rich2713/Project%20GSX/1102091605.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
#4: Now here is my main concern. Look closely at the topside (intake valve side). U can see where the valves hit my pistons. its like this on all 4 of them, although not all of them have really deep impressions. this one is the farthest left (passenger side) piston. is this a major concern? will i need new pistons and valves?
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1/Rich2713/Project%20GSX/1102091603.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

thanks for all the input i need as much info as possible as i want to do this build the right way. i have too many friends with DSMs and almost none of them run correctly. haha

Originally 133k on the chasis/motor. Then the car sat at my mechanics shop for about 8 months before he gave it to me. So being that i got a free car and motor im gonna use my money to rebuild it. But the reason it was brought to the shop was because of a blown clutch. So the car ran perfectly the last time it was in the shop then it just sat for awhile.

Here is a good quality cheap set.

They are good for around 450hp. lots of people have used these with much sucess. Do lots of research into rebuilding that motor and do not cheap out. i've learned so far on my 7 bolt rebuild that being cheap is only going to screw me in the long run. Take the block to the machinist and ask him to check for cylinder roundness, if it's good just get it honed, if not get it bored. you can probably pass on the line hone as long as you did not spin a bearing, also, bring the crank to him and have him check for roundness, if out of round, see if it can be turned (cheaper than getting a new crank) if thats the case, you will need over-sized bearings. Here is my rebuild list so far...note that i had him hone the cylinders first (when he found one was out of round) - it's more so my build so far.
