I just finished building a motor with mostly new parts. It broke in fine, idles perfect with no abnormal sounds. It has great oil pressure and revs smooth, however at around 2700-3000 rpm a clacking sound comes from the lower timing cover. Has anyone had a similar probelm or have any ideas as to what this might be? this sound only sounds between 2700-3000, afterwards it goes away.

Sounds like balance shafts or if you removed them there could be an issue with the kit. If it were a 7 bolt I'd consider crankwalk because that's listed as one of the symptoms, but you have a 92 GSX at least your screename says so. Definitely figure it out asap because that side of the motor is very important and will destroy your motor rather quick.

Yeah man I figured as much. I do know that people have had severe problems with the balance shaft removal kits (something about the groove) and have subsequently lost motors. Sounds like you have it pretty well locked down and I won't waste your time with "shot in the dark" guesses so hopefully you get it figured out before it becomes too serious.
