255 lph fuel pump & 16g ?

I have two questions my fuel pump went out last night and need one today. I want to replace it with a walbro 255 and was wondering if it was the stock pump for any other car. The reason I was wondering I would like to go to my local parts store (O"reillys) and get one right now. If any of you could help that would be great.

Second thing I am new to DSMs and what is the differance between a 16g and a big 16

If you are looking to replace it with a stock pump from another car the best bet will be a supra pump. However, after the pump and install kit it will more than likely be cheaper to just get a 255 from Walbro. :thumb:
 
A Big 16G generally flows more..has more lag in spoolup, but can handle more power.

I'm assuming when you say 16G, you're talking about a Small 16G, right? Yea they're usually only good for about 300hp.
 
I second that opinion. A re-wired 190 would be suitable for a 16g. A 255 might be overkill, and as stated already, will require an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator.
 
190 will still overrun the stock fpr, just not as bad as the 255 and mostly doesn't cause problems that can be detected without installing a fuel gauge....mostly. I have so far helped two users with 10+psi overrun with the 190 pump that was giving them serious drivability issues, an afpr is still a good idea even with the 190.

Interesting. And since no one bothers to install a fuel pressure gauge when they put in a 190, no one finds out about it if there's a problem.

I've searched for those two threads prior to my previous post but I gave up after 15 mins, :) sorry.
 
I run a 190 not rewired and it supports my 50 trim at 24psi on pump gas.

No Idle problems or anything like that, but I don't have a FP gauge so I can't be sure whether it is overruning the stock FPR or not.
 
The question here is not whether it's overrunning the fpr, the question is the degree of overrun. Since the stock pump and fpr are non-adjustable, any pump that flows more than the stock pump should overrun the stock fpr in theory unless there is a leak some where in the fuel system, usually the first place to look is the pump o-ring. CanadianTSi, a filter mounted fuel pressure gauge only costs about $30, not a bad investment if you ask me.
 
I just wanted to let you know that the walbro fuel pumps are noisy (Ive owned a 190 and 255). Then I got the Denso (supra) fuel pump and I can't even here it. I recommend the Denso fuel pump if you can afford the extra $.

I definitely agree with this, my 255 really gets on my nerves sometimes, I guess you get what you pay for.
 
I can't hear my 255 at all over the noise of the exhaust, even at idle. The heater blower fan on its lowest setting is louder. For the price, why not just go bigger?
 
Agreed. I have the 255 and it's a constant whine... I don't know how the the Denso compares, but inside my car I can hear my pump over music and my exhaust at WOT... just a thought.
 
The best part of the Walbro whine: Sitting at a red-light with a turn signal on and listening to the volume/pitch change. :) If the Denso's are indeed quieter, I might get one of those when I upgrade to a 255.
