Hey guys, Im trying to see if my I can fit some 245's on my 98 Eclipse. The rims are 18x9 I believe. Had some guy sell me sumitomo II tires with hyper black rims 18x9. I checked the rim pattern and it matches with the car. But the thing is, I neva really checked out the tires and the width so yeah. Hopefully someone could help me out and give me a lil info. I know they are 245's but I def get the other measurements if that helps. Well thanxs, lata..... RayD:dsm:

The tires are Sumitomo HTRZ II 245/40/18

What you posted is the lug pattern. Offset is where the hub is in relation to the rest of the wheel. For DSM's a +38 to +40 is usually your best bet. If you don't have that info you'll just have to test fit them before buying.

Thanxs man, yeah when you said offset I was lik mhmmm yeah LOL. Well this week I'll just slam them on and hope they fit...:thumb:

The offset is often cast or stamped into an unmachined surface on the back of the wheel.

Aren't those kind of tall tires? I run 245/45R16... In 18s, you'd probably want closer to a 35 series sidewall?

+1, I'm putting 245/40s on 17s... I would assume a 245/35 as well for an 18" rim.

I got 245's on mine. Just thought I would give you a taste of what it will look like!

Its not so much the height/diameter of the rim, its the width and if it will clear the fender or part of the wheel knuckle.

my 245/40/17s (+40) clear the knuckle by... must only be millimeters, I can't even squeeze the tip of my pinky finger in there. But it's stationary so as long as it isn't touching it's fine. As for the fenders, I do scrape when I hit a bump or if the car tilts while turning up a hill. I'm lowered about 1.75 inches I'd say, and I'm touching with my AGXs on full stiffness so I borrowed my friend's fender roller and I'm going at it tomorrow to solve the issue.

If the tires were taller I'm sure the fender contact would be much more frequent, and the tire may even touch the knuckle. So I think it's important to consider the overall height, width, and offset.

Maybe that info is what you're looking for.

Just following up, I rolled my fenders. The flanges are flat up against the inside of the fender, but I accidentally went a little too far and pushed the fenders out some. But anyway, there is absolutely no contact now so I'm happy. so the 245s fit fine with a little roll.

Do you have any pictures of the fenders now?

I PMed you a couple days ago. Maybe your box is full or you haven't checked it.

Anyway, I wanted to know if you had any more picture of that wheel/tire on your car. Some side shots, from above etc. And what offset are they, 35mm, 45mm??? Also, did you roll the fenders or quarter panels? What is the clearance on the inside? Also, is your car lowered?

I am going to be ordering a set of 17x8 wheels soon and am still looking for something decent with a proper offset. I was looking at 2 sets of Rota's, the Torques included and a couple others like the MB Weapons.

if you look at my gallery I have side shots of my setup: 17x8" with a 35mm offset and 245. No rubbing in front or rear; however, i do have adjustable coilovers w/ a stiff spring rates.
