23 spline 6 bolt tranz onto a 7 bolt

Hello my fellow dsm gurus. Im curious as to if a 23 spline 6 bolt tranny would fit my 95 tsi 7 bolt. My buddy has a tranny that has less than 3000 miles and has been done by jack of the springs lying around from his 91 tsi awd part out and i would like to buy it from him cause my stocker dived on me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!!!

To the best of my knowledge you can swap the internals but the 2g casing has to be used due to the location of the motor mounts.

Really? How hard can that be to do? Im new to the whole diveline of the car. I have the basics down but i'v never done anykind of tranny work to a dsm yet. I'v done the tranny in my stang a few times but this is a whole new ball game. Does everything just swap out then swap in?
