20mm wheel spacers too much?

so im thinking about putting on some fender flares on my talon want to go for that wide body look with out all the body... the flares i saw will require my wheels to come out about an 1-2 inches out and i was wondering if i put spacers if that would cause me any problems.
a friend told me that if i add the spacers it will add tention to my drivetrain causing my tranny to go out since im awd.
is that true?

Thick spacers like that put alot of strain on your wheel bearings. That is the only thing that Im aware of being an issue with the spacers.
