2010 was a blur! And I didn't update this thing at all. Figure it's time to add a little something and show what's going on with the Talon and what the newest plans are.

SSR - SplitSecondRacing
I designed SplitSecondRacing several years ago with my first 1g talon that I built. As I started helping other people out with their cars I started dreaming about opening a business and came up with the name. Someday I'd like to open a performance shop by that same name, either way the name lives on now as the one and only sponser of my car haha
This is SSR Project 14b #3 actually.
Anyways on to the actual car stuff. I left off last year after one track outing in which I ended up destroying my bearings in the bottom end. The block was rebuild with ITM 2g pistons, 1g rods w/arp hardware, and new bearings and freshened crank. We took our time and we did it right and for those doubting the ITM pistons we've seen them deep in the 10's on a couple cars now, with a proper tune I trust them! DSMLink V2 went in the car BTW.
I made it out a couple times in June and into April and couldn't get the car to shift into 4th gear, I ended up finding out my shifter cables were fubar'd. A new set fixed my shifting issues. But even without 4th gear I managed a new best of 13.1 during those passes. Then it was E-85 switch time, a set of 1050cc FIC's and a wideband did the trick with some tuning. Another track outing, first launch I exploded the 3 bolt rear passenger side axle.
After fixing that with a 4 bolt rear it was nearly shootout time and I decided to wait until then to make another pass.
The shootout went great, I only made two passes but both were 12.5's with the best being 12.551 @ 110.81. This put my .051 away from my goal of 12.50 for the year!
In September I went twice to the Martin Dragway, the first time I shattered two U-joints on my driveshaft and utterly destroyed it on the launch. I replaced it with another spare driveshaft and went back. I decided to make the first pass a warm-up pass and backed the RPM on the launch off and didn't get on the two step until the yellows started going down. Ended up with a 1.999 60ft
I crossed the traps and upon letting off the spare driveshaft spit a U-joint end out and destroyed yet another driveshaft. But I did run a 12.471 @ 112.33!
Lots left in the car! Since then I added an ETS street/strip Intercooler setup but no other track outings for 2010.
For 2011 I plan to lighten the car at least another 100lbs. And I'm upgrading the aging stock suspension, probably to K-sport coilovers. So...
