WELL! to avoid repeating myself, heres the link to my first blown engine.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/354672-first-gsx-but-its-still-dsm-issues.html

Can't recall if it was mentioned in there, but 2 major problems. A) a rod bearing was put on backwards, and B) it was eating oil like a fat guy on all you can eat wing night! (3.5Q over a 500km trip) YIKES!
Anywho, got her back up and running with a JDM import engine (defiantly not from a 2G.....so it took some tinkering to get everything lined up and fitting properly), did a pretty successful tune with the newly installed SAFCII to accommodate those EVOIII injectors, and drove around with a big smile on my face for many months to follow :D
Took off to Calgary for the summer to work and live with a buddy who recently moved out there. Took the GSX cross country (Toronto - Calgary) with no issues but dark windy roads, great music, and getting pulled over in Montana for going over the "Night speed limit".....(whatever that is... hahaha!)

Did some work on it out in Calgary as well. Replaced all 4 hub assemblies, destroyed both front tires due to blowing the upper control arm bushing and the front struts. (yea... I got a wee bit excited and did a little offroading in the GSX...) So, that resulted in some Megan street coilovers, 4 corner camberkit, and 2 new tires from FL.

So as I'm packing up to head back home and just about to hit the open road, my alternator cashes out. One day delay and $500 to rush the parts later I'm back on the road.
Now, not 450km into my 3600km trek back to Toronto, the car starts to act up. For those of you who know the Canadian Prairies, I'm about 1.5 hours past Medicine Hat at this point. Cruising along at 120km/h not big deviations in acceleration or throttle, the car just starts to bog down. Felt like I had lost 2 cylinders. Give it gas, you can hear it trying but not delivering(kinda sounded like your going up a hill, doing 30mph, in 5th) Ease off the gas and it starts to backfire. pull over, pop the hood, and shut it down for a couple mins. Nothing was loose, no smoke, no funny smells, no engine light, nothing. Start it back up, TADA! No more issues!! And off I go again. About 5 mins later, it does it again.... Depress the clutch, turn the key off and back on, release the clutch and drive very VERY gently to avoid it from coming back. Stopped in Swift Current, pulled the plugs (chalky white, so all is good , bought a new battery (needed one anyway). Grab a sandwich and off I go again.
It did it every now and then over the next 2 days back home, more so at higher altitudes and high OATs (outside air temps). I recall the last night going through northern Michigan just TEARING IT UP! Oh it felt great. Fresh pavement, clear sky, windows down and a Tiesto powermix on. So good ;)
The next time this happened was around Saginaw MI, happened once, so i restarted the car, happened again 10 second later, restarted the car, and then clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk.... :(
Either way, got a truck and trailer up there to tow me back to Toronto and diagnose the problem. The car would turn over, it would run, but it REALLY didn't want to.

Pulled the engine, noticed a little oil in the back (level was A-ok, but I did have to add about 1L/day on the drive home), aside from that i just pulled the valve cover to make sure I didn't drop anything. All still intact, so it was a lower end issue.
Didn't have the time or the patience to deal with it so I pulled it and dropped it off on Magnus' door step. (Early Sept)

The block:
2.3L stroker setup
Ross Pistons +.02 bore, 8.5:1 compression
Eagle Connecting Rods
ACL Race Series Bearings (Main, Connecting Rod, Thrust Washer)
Balance Shaft Elimination
Align hone with ARP Main studs and Headbolts
Felpro Headgasket
Magnus Street intake + thermal barrier gasket.

I was looking into some 272 cams for the head, but it's out of my budget at the moment.

Along with the engine upgrade, why not throw some more new parts in there. So here's what else I'm going to add to the black pearl (no, i don't call it that... just kinda typed it..)
EVOIII 16G
VRSF FMIC + Short route piping
Walbro 255 + rewire
Aeromotive AFPR
Fuel feed/return lines
FIC 650cc
AEM wideband
TruboSX dual stage controller
Injen Intake
ECMlink V3 + '95 EPROM ECU
Skunk2 Camgears
And a new EGT gauge, Prosport Halo Series
I think thats it for now....

Come spring time I'll be shooting for a 3" turbo back system, Fidanza 4.3 + Al Flywheel, and some 272 cams
(need to go find another money tree)

NOW FOR THE BUILD UPDATE!
Car is up on jacks and has been since Aug 29th :(, everything has been installed except for the AFPR and I'm still waiting on the headgasket to drop the longblock back in. (all at once! always found it easier that way)

I'm debating leaving the Magnus intake off until the spring as well.... I don't feel like going through all the trouble of refitting the intercooler piping just yet.

The most irritating part so far was putting the short block back together as I got all the bolts back in the bottom of an oil filled bin.... It's been one of those really tricky jigsaw puzzles but everything is coming along nicely. OH! and fighting with the fuel tank gasket... until I realized I was putting it on wrong... :ohdamn:

Every part has been throughly cleaned of oil, grime, and left over dirt from my offroad adventure this summer. Aside from all that, its looking pretty damn good thus far!

Sorry for the lack of photos, forgot my camera at the garage. THANKS MIKE! (just finished putting in a hot tub.. woot woot!)

SO! hopefully I'll get her up and running this weekend. I'm planning on using motoman's breakin process as it's been working pretty well with my GS, however, I'm always open to suggestions.

Wow the build sounds awesome!!!! Cant wait to see the pics!!!!!
