Well I can't post this where I want it, so here goes. My buddy bought Megasquirt for his 2000 4g64 Eclipse after seeing us hook one up in his roommates 98 turbo Neon. He knows nothing really, and even tried to get his car running on one of our base maps for the Neon (we have 2 Neons running on MS right now and mine will be soon as well). I want to help get him started but haven't found a damn thing on the 4g64 crank trigger pattern or anything. This is the only thing I gotta figure out, the rest of it's simple. Can't figure out how the 3rd gen DSM's crank position sensors work. I don't have access to an oscilliscope right now or I'd use that.

Any help on what the trigger wheel looks like? Or even what settings to set the crank decoder to in Megatune?

I know it's not a newbie questions but this is where I can post. I know the 420a crank trigger is different (same as Neon 2.0's and Chrysler 2.4's) but don't know if it's the same as the 1g or 2g 4g63's or not.

It's just a standard trigger(where as the neon one is a little complicated and why it has it's own decoder in it). If you Google "megasquirt on a 4g63", you'll get a page that has the hookup info on it!

It should be setup the same way if i remember right on the triggers

Alright, so we'll need to hook up both sensors then? Mitsu still uses an optical sensor in 2000? I thought that was older technology, most companies use Hall effect sensors now. Unless I'm missing something.

And I'm well aware of what the Neon crank trigger looks like, I've scoped it numerous times. I've just never messed with 3rd gen Eclipses ROFL

I set it up like this site said:

Still have no RPM signal in Megatune. Something must not be hooked up right ### when we re-flashed the MS in my buddy's Neon and forgot to set it to Neon/420a mode, when it was cranking it read like 2000 rpm and wouldn't start, but it would spray fuel.

Right now, it has no idea the engine is even turning over. I'll have to trace my buddy's steps since he wired it in and I'm taking over ### he has no clue wtf he's doing....

I'd like to hook my MS v3 on my stroker but i'm worried about f'n it all up. I can make the harness easily for my car, just i have no idea how to tune the damn thing and that is what scares me.

As we've learned on the Neons, the hardest part is getting it to fricken start, the rest is simple. Well comparatively simple. Once we got the latest turbo Neon to start, the rest wasn't too bad. It helped that my buddy has had his turbo Neon running on MS for the past 2 years, but we got the other one started without him and tuned decently.

This Eclipse is pissing me off, I can't find any info on it that's what I need. Seems nobody bothers with them anyways. The stupid FSM I downloaded has the wrong pictures in the 1 section I need too. Doesn't help that my buddy also put the installation guide somewhere for the eMS-pro which explains what I gotta do to these dip switches. Finally found it, but it's dark out now. Gotta do it tomorrow. Then I think it'll read RPM signal, but I still need to figure out the crank trigger tooth pattern...
