I recently acquired a dohc 4g64 to put in a 93 talon awd. It has a spun rod bearing, crank is toast. I'm wondering if the sohc crank is the same, as they are easier to find.

4g64 came from a 94 (I think) galant. is 7 bolt, full main girdle, head gasket matches the 1g 7bolt out of the talon originally (larger bore of course)

yes cranks are the same

cars is 94 galant gs. its only made that one year. JNZ tuning has HG for it

Nice of you to mention where to get a head gasket, It's next to impossible to find one at a parts store. I just ended up ordering a cometic for the 4g63 with an 87mm bore. what year range do I have on the crank? do they have a year split at 94-95, or are all 7 bolts the same?

The crank is all the same from 94-03 galants all 7 bolts. Its 100mm stroke. The only difference is that 94 GS motor has oil squirters. IDK if it matters for you just some people dont like them .

Good to hear, that ought to make finding a crank easier. As for oil squirters, the block I have does not have them. Idk if that means it's out of a different galant? I think I'll have the holes drilled and tapped, and put them in, dd reliability and whatnot. Thanks much for the info
