I need to get my brother a sub and amp for X-mas and I can't spend anymore than 200. I know that's cheap but I'm short of cash right now. Can anyone help me out?

have looked on ebay....im sure u can find a cheap one...(but remember if u pay cheap then the quality is probably cheap too...)

too bad you don't live closer to me - i have some to sell - it would probably cost an arm and a leg to ship it

Yea you can get a decent setup for 200. but after that you still have to get a wiring kit and what not. Any name brand sub (Infinity, Kicker, RF,MTX etc..) rated around 300-400RMS watts (4 ohm) will be nice and then youll need a mono amp that will put out around 300-400 RMS watts and is 2 ohm stable. If youre looking for a nice cheap amp i have had alot of success with profile amps. They are quality built and a great price(under 100bux). If you want to do somethign different sub wise I would go to reaudio.com and look at the re12.

you could always look for used equipment that works fine. My friend bought a new car over the summer and is buying a newer better sound system... i'm getting his old one (2 12" MTX subs, his old amp (i dont remember what kind but it worked awesome with his subs) and the wires, and help installing it all for exactly $200. I would look for some used deals (just make sure everything works) or check ebay but some of the systems my friends have bought on ebay sound horribly cheap.

I am about to get a new amp, just b/c I want more power and something for show... but everyone picks on my amp at 1st. I have a Jensen Mosfet 400 watt amp. It's nothing fancy. It's cheap. But I've had it for 5 years now. When everyone hears that it can actually move a sub, they quit talking crap. Sure, it's not the best amp... but for a budget, I'd say it's pretty good. You can get that and an audiobahn sub or something for $200-ish. :thumb:
