After months of trying and trying I am stuck and thinking of selling.

Problem: horrible bogging down under boost to the point where the car will bog down so much till it almost stops untill i let off the gas

Things I have checked/tried: Complete tune-up, plugs, wires, fuel & air filters, pcv. Boost leak test

Mods: Fmic, k&n filter, autometer boost guage

Heres the thing, when this mas is plugged in, the car runs fine untill under boost. Under boost it bogs down horrible as decirbed above. When i unplug the mas the car runs like a raped ape. So strong and smooth and everything, feels like a 10sec car. but when its unplugged the gas milage is horrible, im saying like 8 mpg, but of course you can expect that with no mas. I changed the mas twice and still does the same thing????????

like I said im desprite, and i have 20 bucks in my paypal........

p.s. im positive its not a boost leak, and i just cant leave the mas unplugged because gas is too expense and so are new plugs every week

i vote ecu as well. mine was acting sort of funny before and a switch to a different ecu settled it all.

I was going to say ecu also, looks like that is what you need to get checked out. :thumb:

i had it replaced two times just in case, but it only bogs down under boost. i dont even know where to start with this ecu stuff.........

anything else besides ecu?

by the way thanks for all the replys, if this works ill keep my word

I has a similar problem which was caused by a loose connector on my ignition module (the one that's behind the coilpack).

Whohoo.. new Idea.. $20's mine :D

What were the symtoms you experienced? Did you replace anything of just fix the wire?

Try the TPS. My car used to buck really hard like I was hitting fuel cut when under load. Datalogged it and found out it was TPS half-assing it.

Replaced the ecu with a brand new one from work (figured if it didnt work i could send it back) 450$!!

Results : same shit! Didnt make a difference at all.

I also messed around with the coil and wires, same thing, nothing.

One of my buddies urged me to do another leak down test and I did. It looks like I could possible have a boost leak but im not sure. I have my boost gauge t-ed off up by the firewall, not sure whats its called but its from the tech articles i followed. When i pressurized the system the pump gets harder and harder to pump and it feels like its pressurizing but my boost guage only reads like 3psi max. I took off my bov and covered it with my hand and pressurized it and i couldnt keep my hand over it for long becuase it would blow off and when i did release my hand it would make a popping sound like it was under alot of pressure. So my question is am i reading the test right or may i have a boost leak. The conclusion i came to is that i dont because im still boosting 10 psi strong whenever the mas is NOT plugged in. When ever i uplug the mas the car runs like a bat outa hell. I can really feel like pull me back in the seat.

My other question is, what are the symtoms of that wastegate control seleniod being bad. (The electronic piece that connects to the mas and the turbo outlet) When i bought the car the vaccumm lines were reversed but it ran fine when i put them back to normal.

IVE RAISED THE REWARD TO $50 if someone can solve this, paypal or in person if someone is in the area and wants to take a rip at it........

THANKS IN ADVANCE YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN GREAT!!!!!!!!!ALOT OF RESPONSES THAT ARE MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!

I can guarantee you that you have a boost leak. Pump up that intake tract and get a spray bottle with some soapy water and start spraying. This should yield your problem. Your car is running rich in boost due to metered air escaping before entering the engine.

Dont tell us you did a boost leak test if you dont use this method either. I have proven several local dsmers wrong when they swore they didnt have any boost leaks.

Another update: i have disconnected the wastegate seloniod thing i mensioned above. The car runs alot better. There is no bogging down, or studdering. I boosts great untill like 7 or 8 psi its looks like its a boost leak coupled with a bad selnoid. Wont know for sure yet till tomorrow because i have to re-due my boost leak test.

i have my boost leak tester pugged into my turbo inlet? am i doing something wrong?

One other thing to check also is your spark plug gaps. If your gaps are too wide then you will be blowing out the spark at a higher boost very consistently. This can cause some major bogging.
