I will start by saying I did search but couldn't find the exact answers I'm looking for. I just got a aftermarket electric oil pressure and water temperature gauge and got a couple of questions. I will start with the oil pressure sensor. I plan on mounting it to the oil filter housing and have removed one of the allen screws. My problem is the hole for the allen screw is a 3/8 npt fitting and the sensor is something smaller. I need to know what size npt fitting to get to make the sensor work in that location (3/8-?). Next question is about the water temperature sensor. I'm trying to avoid drilling and tapping into the thermostat housing. I've read that the 1gs have bolts on the t-stat housing that can be removed and replaced with the sensor but there is nothing on the 2g's like that. So could I just get a t or y npt fitting and remove the factory sensor use the fitting and screw the factory sensor in one side and the aftermarket sensor in the other then screw it back into the 2g housing with no problems. Do they sell any sort of t or y npt fitting like this? If so what size do I need?

Take your oil sensor down to your local hardware store to find out what the thread pitch is, should be pretty simple to do. Once you find that out, you will know what size adapter you need. Don't know about the 2g thermostat housing but I would say you should have no problem using some sort of Y or T fitting to use both your stock and aftermarket sensors.

Thanks for the reply. I was going to take it to a local hardware store but all of our local hardware stores are closed on Sundays. I tried advanced and autozone and they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. So I will try the local hardware store tomorrow. Anyone know the size of the factory water temperature sensor so I will know what size fitting to look for.

the oil pressure sending unit plugs, is that what you are talking about? if so i just went through hell trying to find a fitting that will fit in there, i found out it is a 5/8 metric, and auto zone does not have any thing that will fit it ### it is a finer thread, at least around here)i would check with the a mitsu dealership, as far as the water temp guage i have nothing on that subject

The allen plugs are not 3/8" NTP, but some BSTP size (I think... ). The thread on the sensor is probably 1/8" NPT, mine was.

I ended up finding a fitting laying around my basement that was close to the allen plug size. The thread was just a little off. I just cranked it in tight. Probably not the best solution, but it worked. I think it tapped itself into the aluminum oil filter housing without a problem. No leaks. Doing it that way risks cracking the OFH though.

Many people just add a T-fitting into where the stock oil pressure sensor is. For some reason, I felt like doing it a more difficult way.
