1G 2" DP to a 3" Catback?

I've got an aftermarket set of 4-2-1 headers, which flow into a 2" downpipe/test pipe. I'm looking at a catback with a 3" ID. I don't own a welder myself, but I could probably conscript one of my buddies that has one to help out. Is there a way to hook up the 2" DP to the 3" catback without welding up a custom conversion? Also, are there any major drawbacks to such a big jump in diameter?

There is no performance benefit to putting a 3" exhaust on a N/A DSM, it will likely be less powerful in the lower RPM range and gain nothing up top over a 2.25" system, which would have a better tone. And for $900+, it's a waste of money.
