2 bad rod bearings new motor

I understand your predicament but you should really think about tearing it down and checking EVERYTHING. A knocking rod is very hard on parts. At the very least I would pull the crank and mag, mic and polish it. It's very possible that the crank or rod is cracked or the rod could be bent. With the rods being run with the wrong caps it is also VERY likely that the big ends of the rod are out of spec. If that's the case, you'll be doing this all over again in a few weeks.

Understandable. When you say that yhe big end of the rod could be out of spec.. How so do you mean? Change in what spec? I need this to at least hold up this week till I can get another vehicle. I plan on drivin about 50 miles, changing the oil. Drivig another little while and dropping the oil to check for bearing material in the bottom of pan and checking torques n such.

The big end of the rod can be egg shaped now.

The ID of the big end (where the bearings go) could be out of round. You can check the oil frequently but by then the damage will be done.

eggshaped.. I'll just have to pray it will be fine
I've logged 35miles on it so far, and its running like it should. lifters are still pumping up on it, but they are quieting down. Everything seems to be operating smoothly. hope it stays that way.

Thanks again for all the help guys. I will update after more miles and seeing how everything is turning out.

I had that attitude once before, it landed me with a spun rod bearing - AGAIN. I've since then learned that you can't rush or cheap out on something as important as proper machining and tolerances. The problem doesn't just magically go away with changing your oil often to check how much bearing material your engine has been eating. Think about all the other things those metal shavings destroy, main bearings & crank, the other rods, your turbo's bearings, cam bearing/lobes, etc etc. Just speaking from experience - your going to be in the same position you were a few days/week ago and out even more money if you don't do it right.

I have parkes it until i can find time and money. Had to get me an old toyota pickup. So I need to have crank check for roundness. And im also needing to pull the rods out then?? To have them checked as well?
