2.4l or 2.0l?

Type in 2.4l in the search box and you'll find out. Also which one would you rather have a v6 or v8... a 2.0l or a bigger 2.4l common sense. ;)

Common sense would also lead you to believe that more torque means more tranny killing potential. It will also be a bit harder on driveline parts. Sure people say bigger is better, but that isn't true for everyone.

If you get a 2.4 you cant just toss it in and drive away. You will need larger injectors, a way to tune those and a logger to see how that tunning is going. Also, if you are on the 14B then you car will spool instantly and then fall on its face in the upper RPM. Very similar to a t25 on a 2g trying to make more than 15 psi.

dont just jump on the stroker band wagon. Make some realistic goals for you and your car. From there find the motor that will work the best and cheapest for you and those goals.

Bigger is better for me. Also if your replacing your engine and if your looking for power you mite as well do it the smart way and not just cranking the boost to 20psi on a stock block...

Right, but his car is stock so he can stick with the same displacement and run all the stock gear he has now. If he goes your route he needs to get bigger injectors, something to control them, and a logger on top of the new 2.4 that guess what is a stock block. So looking at the big picture makes it less attractive. You have at least 600.00 in extra stuff just to run it stock not to mention what a stroker will do to driveline parts. So if you are willing to help him pay for all this stuff, I think we shoudl wait and see what his goals are and help him from there.

The 4G63 in 2.0 has got Shep to trap 176 MPH so I don't see the need for jumping on stroker band wagons. The main reason for me is that I haven't seen one that has lasted more than 20K. How many 2.0 have gone 50K plus, a ton.

heres what is troubling me this is something in some sort to his thread see i have a 2.4 sohc and what i plan to do is built out the head dont know what i should do to the block. so are you saying that 4g63 is the way to go

If for right now you are just going to run a 14B then go with the 2.0. If iti is a stock bottom end it will handle 400 AWHP no problem. You can also just drop it and and go with out having to change injectors or anything else major.

If you decide to go for more HP later, you can always start to stock pile parts then assemble what ever crazy combo you want.

from the way everyones talkin i`m gonna go with the 2.0l right now i need the car on the road by the end of this month, so i`m not looking to replace driveline parts. And i would like to keep it turbo, thanks for all the info

If I was needed a motor I would never build anything but a 2.4L. Fun factor is very clear to me, 2.4L > 2.0L.

For the most part the turbo decides how much power you make and consequently what size injectors you need, and stock are adequate for a 14b. Some people can break a tranny on a stock car.

For the guy trying to go 175 mph, I might lean towards sticking with what is "proven".

booostdinaz so your telling me i should swap out my 2.4 block and go with a 2.0. See my main thing is i want to keep the 2.4 cause i dont want to have to swap blocks out what else can you recommend to me that i can do so i can boost on the 2.4 i really dont want to have to buy a motor from ffwd connection cause thats the only way i would go about buying any engine components. so please tell me there has to be alternative routes for a sohc 2.4 person like me, i mean from my knowledge alot of the 4g63 engine components bolt right up, do you think i should swap out the head? also i would have to get the block drains plugged correct? if you have time break some of this down for me

Wow, I am a tool. I didn't realize that you were trying to turbo your NT. :sosad:

This opens an entire new can of worms. I haven't heard of anyone that has turbo'd there Sypder. Most just go stroker on a turbo car. This would be a big project and cost quite a bit. I honestly would say find a turbo Spyder and use that to start. You may want to hit the NT area and see if anyone has had good luck trying to turbo it and then work from there. even if you did go turbo I would say stick with a 2.0. Lowend torque and FWD make for not alot of fun.

If you build a 4g64 bottem end with a 4g63 head, with all internals, its untouchable... I really dont think any other dsm motor/head combo will outperform this "hybrid"... Its a torque monster and capapble of almost anything. If you want crankwalk, buy a 2.0 L... If you want torque, buy a 4g64 hybrid. Period.
