The first question is... I was wondering where i can get info on putting a led on to my knock sensor? Finally i am haveing a real big problem. The ecu when out 6262 non eprom and i put a 5903 with an eprom in to it. now the car is running really bad. I was told to change 2 wires and that made it worst. so i switched them back what can i do HELP PLEASE.... :laser:

i always thought that the number on the ecu didnt dictate anything, my old ecu was a 5903 and when i bought a new one from the factory it was the same number, but the new one is eprom while the old one isnt. was the old ecu stock? STEVE, WHERE ARE YOU STEVE? LOL

Sure the number on the ECU indicates the part number of the ECU and different models and years of cars have different partnumbers.

What the part number doesn't do directly is tell you if you have a EPROM ECU on not since for example, the '90 Federal AWD ECU is a MD145903 regardless of EPROM or not. The '91-92 Federal AWD ECUs are MD166262. If nobody has played games with the board and case then you can tell by looking at the top label. on '90 ECUs the EPROM ECU will have no letter in the lower right had corner of the label where the non-EPROM will have the letter A. On the '91+ ECUs the letter E in the same location means it's an EPROM.

Anyway, the poster has several issues.
A junk yard ECU isn't exactly a known good part.
Since we know that pins 6 and 14 must be swapped when crossing the 90/91 models I have to wonder if that right pins 6 and 14 got swapped.
He also has for all purposes crossed posted the ECU problem (which is against the rules) and PM'd me on it too. The question of a knock LED boils down to there isn't a way to put a LED on the knock sensor. The old "Knock LED mod" was actually a BCS LED.
