1ga Door Removal

I replaced both of my doors several months ago and this is more work than I anticipated. But then again I also redid then and replaced the windows and hacked the harness up to remove some wiring for the power locks. It depends upon if your door/s are power windows & locks regarding the harness but you also have to swap out the handle locks if you want to keep those the same.

Step by step:
-remove the interior panels
-if your taking out the window too, lower it untill you see the two bolts in the access port
-remove window if applies
-unplug all the all the harness to all the power items and speakers. there's many zip ties on this. no need to worry what goes to what because all the plugs are different
-pull the harness through the front of the door by the fender
-take off the fender
-then there's 6 bolts to take the door off at the hinge and the arm-stay thing that keeps the door open

This should just about cover it unless if your also swaping out the locks....

Thanks alot i will try that tonight. It does sound like more work than i thought there would be, but thats ok. Im glad you said something about the door locks, I didnt even think about that. Have you removed a lock as well? If so, what all steps are required? Thanks again.

No prob :thumb: its not too difficult just time consuming. Do you have power door locks? If so IMO I would scrap them as this is a major PITA. Essentially all you are replacing is a small little cylinder within the handle, BUT there is much to take off in order to do this. There are long bars running from the interior door handle to the power lock motor and the exterior handle, then there are long bars running from the power lock motor to the exterior handle too. The power unit and bars can be removed along with the wiring. There is also a sensor that can be taken of the exterior handle unit when doing this. So now you got the both handles unbolted and poped out the exterior handle right? Take off the long bar lever running to the exterior handle. Now you can finally get to behind the handle and see the small key cylinder. There is a ring clip holding this on. Now do all this again and put it in your new door.

Hope this helps. Let me know if your stuck at any part
