All 1g wheel and tire size questions from the newbie sections are merged here.

hi,
i am interested in putting 18" motegi MR-7 wheels on my 1991 plymouth laser. my only problem is i do not know if they will fit in the wheel well with tires. if anyone out there has 18" wheels on their laser....please let me know so and also tell me what size tire you have on the wheel. i would also like to know how snugly they fit in the wheel well. if 18's dont fit i guess i will have to go for 17 inch wheels. what is a good size tire that would fit a 17" wheel?

thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me

i have a extra set of volk wheels that are 17x8.5 with i believe either a 35 or 38 offset. I didnt see on here with anyone asking about this paticular size. my question is will i need to roll or shave my fenders. i believe they might stick out a bit. Also if anyone is running a similar size im wondering if its eating your fender lining as well. thank you

I have 17x8 evo wheels on my 1g that stick out past the fender in the front and am not having problems with hitting the fender. Fenders are stock (not rolled) and my car is lowered with H&R springs.

Depending on the offset of your wheels you may rub on the rear control arms. My evo wheels are right almost against it in the back.

Hope this helps.

I have a question about what offset should i run on my 99 fwd eclipse turbo. I have the evo brembo brakes i plan on installing and i was planning on using rota subzero wheels. the company offers them in 18" 5x114 with a +45 offset and +48 offset and i would like to know which offset should i buy.:dsm:

Im getting all of my peices together for the same upgrade. From what I understand, anything bigger than +38 wont fit. Try seeing if they offer those same rims for a EVO, the offset will be set to clear the brakes. I'm planing on getting a set of Gram Lights 57optimise on mine. Here's the specs for the eclipse version:
18x7.5
Offset: +43mm
Backspacing: 5.90"
Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Rec. Tire Size: 225/40-18
Weight: 19.5lbs.

EVO version:
18x8.5
Offset: 33mm
Backspacing: 5.98"
Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Rec. Tire Size:235/40-18
Weight: 21.0lbs.

Im not sure if my idea will work or not, but my thinking is if it fits an evo it will fit ours. Up to a point. Size and width being the point. One nice thing about the Evo version of the Gram Lights I picked out is it's closer to the stock size so it wont mess up the spedometer reading.

Hope this hepled some. Good Luck!

4 17"KONIG RIMS 5 STARS W/TIRES &2 3A RACING MUFFLERS

Hello, I'm interested in these rims would just like to know if anyone could verify what model they are...All I know is that they're Konig, 5 Spoke, and were on a Grand Prix then an Intrepid. After looking through a few pages of Grand Prix and Intrepid rims it seems like I shouldn't have any problems fitting these on my car, correct? Thanks for any input!

It looks like Konig DTD Zeige

Woah, those look like the ones! Thanks for the picture, those look great imo :)

After looking them up, I noticed they're a 5x115 bolt pattern (possibly) Seeing as how he had them on an Intrepid and a Grand Prix...Will that work okay? They are universal, so I don't know what the other size is. Not sure if it will or not :(

A little research showed me that the intrepid's bolt pattern is 5x114.3 and the Grand Prix's is 5x115.

I am looking to pick up a fresh set of rims. I have my eye on the 16x7 Rota Slipstreams. They are $490 shipped. The bolt pattern is 5x114.3 with a +45mm offset and a 73mm bore. Will these fit easily and what is the widest tire I can use?

I have a rim question and this looks like the best place to ask it. I'm looking at getting sum 18x9.5 rims with a +48 offset. My car is pretty low and I rub a little with the 2g gst rims, only at the steering stops. I have 225/50r16 tires on them. I'm running about 2degrees of camber on all 4 corners so the tops of the wheels are tucked in the wells a good inch or so. If I get these rims I'll probably be running 45 or 40 series tires on them. How well will these rims fit or will they even fit? Thanks

Those won't come close to fitting. I run 17x9 +24 offset rims on my car and with coilovers I almost rub the springs on the inside and the wheels stuck out so far I had ti get flares for the I sie. The ar like an overly aggressive Subaru wheel but even they would take a +40 or smaller offset to clear the suspensi

Okay well, i just got a set of 20" rims Enkies from my brother. They are 5x114.3 and are what i was told 40 offset, they are 8's or 8.5's. Anyway, the tires on them are 245-30ZR20's.

Will these fit??

Right now I have 18's with 225-40Z-R18, and in these pictures (winter tires) I have 225-55-R16's on 16" rims that sit the same height as the 18's do when off the car and on!

so if the 18's with 40 profile are the same height as 16's with 55 profile, then 20's would fit a little bigger with the 30's. Also, If they are even bigger by a whole inch, it dont really matter because look how much wheel well my car has left.

You might have rubbing issues with that wide of a tire. Only way to know for sure is to bolt them up.

Why would you wanna put 20's on your car anyway? If you wanna do that get a caprice classic. I would sell the 20's and get a nice 18" wheel tire combo. I don't think you could ever get good camber with a tire that big and will replace tires more than necessary in my opinion.

Well. Alas I got them on and rubbed my way down the road. The inner wall of the tire hits the top ball joint in the front and the rear. If my car werent lowered 2 inches, and had some nicer heavier sprigns, these would work. They look a little big for such a little car.

Gar.

I cannot lie and say that I am sad that they did not fit...

Hey I've got a Caprice. I wouldn't put bigger than 15's on it. I think 17's are really pushing it on these cars. from my point of view the 15's are great because they're so plentiful you can get pretty much any style or tire size.

235/45-17 tires are not designed for 17x7 inch rims. You would need at least an 8 inch wide rim to make them fit and work properly. I have had 235/45-17 tires on 17x7 rims and had the outside edge of the tire started to peel and flake off. 225 wide tires are the largest tire that can safely operate on a 7 inch wide rim. You are also changing the overall diameter of the tire to larger than the factory size which would result in an inaccurate speedometer reading and taller gear. A 215/45-17 is the size you should run. If you run a 17x8 wheel, then a 235/40-17 is the tire size to run

you should not have any problems being lowered, but you will need to run some spacers...I'm not running any spacers on mine but I did had to grind alittle on my rear control arms.
