What part of qualifying pass didn't you understand?

Chances are these guys didn't drive crappy on purpose just because it was not a real race. Nothing against either of these guys, as it's not like even John Force is perfect every time (just almost).

IF they are evenly matched absolutly. Now if you have a 200 hp vs 800 hp, unless the guy sits there for 10 seconds, the 800hp car is most likely going to win.

a 200hp car vs a 800hp car is most likely going to be a bracket race not heads up, so yeah it would matter. The 800hp guy is going to have to really have his act together since it's harder to be consistent with a faster car.

They are still dialing their setups in, Mike was shaking out the cobwebs, and both are dealing with all the quirks inherent to a >1000whp 2.0l.

I think that the fact they both ran low 9s on a crappy track with all the above is quite impressive. You said it yourself these are 8 second cars, but they're running 9's in this video.

Both are 8 second cars when they get in the groove.

I'd like to see you row an MT DSM down the track with 4 digit power.

The only reason I brought that up was because this was posted as a real 1G vs 2G gudge match, which it obviously was not.

Yes they are both impressive cars I'm sure, but these passes are not IMO. You said it yourself that these are 8 second cars -- however they are running 9's and the 1G didn't really get going until 1/2 way down the track (making his 9.2 impressive I guess).

In a QUALIFYING round, reaction time is not taken into consideration when doing the actual bracket for eliminations. It is a measure of E.T. and only E.T., not MPH not 330' not 60' NOT REACTION TIME!!! They can sit there as long as they like! But if they run a 9.x that is all that matters when they are paired up for eliminations. I hope you have a clearer understanding of how this works now... If not, may God have mercy on your soul....

Some people obviously have no clue what it takes to go fast. High 10 second passes are no joke in a manual, let alone low 9 second passes. To put these passes into perspective, maybe 20 dsm's in the entire history of dsm's have gone faster than this with a manual. MAYBE 20. Both cars had LOTS left on the table. Mike had boost and spray to go. John had both to go also. Nobody wants to explode drivetrain parts in qualifying, so both were taking it easy. Not to mention it being the first of the season, and both were fresh with no seat time.

I give mad props to both!!!

Like already stated, John ran a better time for sure, but he didnt get the win if that would have been a race. Mike got the win. You can clearly see the W light on mikes side. Neither was trying to win though, as you can see by them just sitting there. They were just trying to make decent qualifying passes.

Get over it already. They already mentioned it was not an actual race and I don't need a drag racing lesson. So many videos get posted here where they sit for quite a few seconds after the green, and it gets old people saying how awesome the pass was when they should've been half way down the track when they finally got around to taking off and would've lost IF IT WAS A REAL RACE (we don't need to be ridiculed on how it wasn't a race; this was posted as though it was, look at the Subject line).


I've never seen drag racing mentioned in the Bible, maybe it was a mistranslation that took it out I guess.

Johns mph was low because he tossed a rocker arm. The pass before he was on lower boost and still went 157.

Hell yeah got me excited for norwalk in august.

Im about 2 1/2 hours away from Norwalk i havent been there in a couple years but its a good time up there im lucky as hell and have a track 10 min from where i live i go to the test and tune every friday

WOW, interesting responses. Mike and I where on our second qualifying passes reaction means nothing in qualifying so we where just feeling out the clutch setups as there are both new to us.

Neither one of us had the power turned up all the way on this run as we where feeling out the cars, as you can see however I had it turned up a little more than him.

My mph was so low because I tossed 3 intake rockers at the top of third just on the other side of the 1/8 mile so when I put it in 4th the car was misfiring so I let out and coasted the rest of the way down the track. I am sure had a stayed in it it would have been at least a high 160 pass, car has already been 168 and it was moving faster Sunday than it was then.

The launch, I have broken more money in parts on the line in the last year than most people have in their entire cars so I was a little gun shy, it was a weak 1.77 60' to Mike's 1.57 spinning. Trust me when you start making as much power as we do its a whole new ball game running these things down the track. I am still feeling out the car on the new setup, its gonna take seat time to sort it all out. This was only the 3rd launch in the dogbox and the gearing in the car makes it a whole different animal to operate. These are not auto cars, not knocking them I tune and race several of them (it is the better drag race option some of us are just stubborn), but there is a lot more going on.

All in all I think we where both happy, #1 and #2 qualifiers in Forced Induction Pro, and running low 9s on crappy passes. It was Mike first pass down the 1/4 in a year on a totally new chassis and clutch setup and me still scared to death I am gonna rip the driveline apart. We will both go much faster as we get back to the track.

Almost forgot to mention, we will be lining up for a real grudge race in the very near future . Come get some Mike!!

Its the normal Shep dogbox first, just much longer than the stock trans. Only thing custom will be the 5th thats going in it for the mile.
