Hi all. Not a complete newbie but it’s been 15 years or more since my last DSM.
I have a 92 turbo FWD manual. The car has spark, it has fuel but won’t fire the fuel pump on start up. Had the caps replaced in the ECU, tested my signals to and from ECU and noticed the only concerning item I have found so far is the CAS signal to the ECU is max 0.3V from what I’ve tested this far. I tested at the ECU and from the back side of the CAS connector. It was super cold tonight so I need to double verify this. And the TDC signal but here is the part that is weird, If I power the fuel pump up, still no start. It tries slightly within 3 seconds but nothing. If I use ether (QuickStart) however, It starts, but I can not touch the throttle for a minute or so. And even when I can it’s light touches. But if I choke it out it starts up again on its own.
Once it warms up tho, I can rev it, drive it etc. cuts out hard if I go hard throttle or rev passed 4500 rpm or roughly that area. It starts on its own power while it’s warm tho.
Runs great too minus the low power issue. I’ve verified no boost/vacuum leaks. Good fuel, new filter, new plugs etc. I have not tested the CAS signal while running yet as I have just narrowed this concern down tonight.
I am looking for suggestions on what to test next. I only get short stints to work on it as it’s parked outside and it’s cold here in Alberta
Thank you for any suggestions!
