I was wondering can i use a 1g turbo tranny on a 2g gst. Because I would really like to do the auto to manual conversion.

No it will not work. Mounts aren't the same. A search would of yeilded you these answers, But you can put a 2g transmission in a 1g.

Really? I haven't seen that post now I have to go look it up. Thanks a lot!ROFL

IF the mounts aren't the same for a 1g into a 2g, why would they be the same for a 2g tranny in a 1g?

Many people have done it, you would just need to fab up new brackets.

My buddy with a 97 has a 1g tranny in his.

I do not know how or why it would be done. However, I know it is possible.

You would need the transfer case as well.

why not just use a 2g fwd tranny though?

Yeah, you can put a 1g in a 2g but your going to have to fabricate up mounts like he did. I don't know how he mounted the front mount but either way, I wouldn't do it. It's not a bolt in affair. The reason it won't work because the 2g has 3 "motor mounts" on the transmission and 1 on the motor. Where as the 1g has 3 motor mounts on the motor and 1 on the transmission.

The 2g can fit in a 1g because the motor is still supported by those 3 mounts on the motor and 1 on the transmission.

I was planning on using a 1g fwd turbo tranny in a 2g. So the 1g tranny would fit with custom brackets?

You will save a lot of time and trouble jsut using a 2g...not worth the headach IMO :ohdamn:

Ok but what if he cant find a 2g tranny. I hate how people jump on this kind of stuff. If he has a 1g tranny, then tell him how to make it fit, not ask why.

I agree with cookmeup272.....if he can same money and time waiting to find a 2nd gen and wants to put in the time and effort to make it fit, y not tell him how it's done!

Hey junior_dsm If i knew a bit more about it i would help u out but i'm kinda new to this car myself....if it was a Toyota i would have had the answer for you. Sorry pal

This isnt a honda forum, this is a DSM forum. I like to think we are better.

HAHA :~) ...i support ## enthusiasm but i was talking about Toyota....i just know it better that's all, mainly their 4 cyls. That's what i grew up with so that's what i know. ANYTHING is better then a honda...except fords they are the worst!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you serious about it. Your going to have to find a way to fabricate the mounts. Then I don't even know if the speedometer cables are the same. I believe 1g's are cable driven and 2gs are electrical. Also with the reverse switch, I don't know if they are the same. Your also going to have trouble with a good quality mount for the front because of where the cross member is and where the mount actually is. Your probably going to have to use a 1g motor since the 2g block doesn't have holes for a 1g mount.(correct me if I'm wrong about this one) I don't even know if the axles are the same either. Have fun! Good luck. I say just wait for a 2g fwd transmission to come floating around. This is not worth the headache.

Yeah because i wanted to do the auto to manual swap but i can't find a shell to pull the parts i need or even the tranny itself. So i was thinking i could use a 1g tranny on a 2g
