1g to 2g swap problem

Hey guys i know what every one is going to say read the forums i have read them until i was blue in the face. 3 things i have yet to find 100% out right yes or no on.


First quick info on what has been done. When i got this car it all ready had a 1g swap in 2g body. motor was blown. Now i have a built 2.3 ready to go in and ready to setup and wire for dsm link v3.


First When i had taking every thing apart the wiring was normal other than the harness to link in the cas. The cas was set to tdc with the motor tdc. I found out that to use link i have to get a older ecu since i have a 99 spec gsx. Will this change the spark plug wires and injector wires? Or can link handle that in programing?

2 The stock Spark plug coils whats the maxx horsepower u want to use them for?

3. Im thinking about using a spark energy coil over plug system and not sure if i wire it in normal or to 96 spec wiring. i mean by 96 spec is changing the spark from 1 and 4 to 2 and 3?

Just get a tactrix cable and download the software. Cable is half the price of link.

1. Yes, you have to change the spark plug wires because Link only runs on 1995 ECUs.

2. Don't know exactly, but they can handle very high hp numbers.

3. COP is the same wiring as for problem No. 1.

in link you can just set it inverse cam angle signal the same as you would a 1g cas. imo i would stick with a 1g cas so you still have timing adjustments.

So should i leave everything normal and wire the cop normal and just switch it in link? I have to use link were way out side of normal with the 2.3 stroker a d hx35 turbo.

No, You can invert the cas signal in link but you change the order of the plug wires in link. You want the cop setup for the year of ECU so if you get a 95-96 ECU you would need the 95-96 order if you get a 97 ECU you would need the 97-99 order. ECMtuning can can socket 95-97 non eprom ECUs if you cant find a 95 Eprom ECU.
