hey guys, i have a 1g awd and wanted to get some feedback on what kind of springs i should get. im planning on getting kyb agxs for the front and rear, but as for the springs im been getting mixed reviews. ive been looking at the pro-kit, h&r, sprint, and progress springs mostly. what im looking for is the functional spring for handling performance without a huge drop. im looking to stay in the area of about an inch drop. any opinions you guys could give me would be great.

p.s. before anyone asks, my car is mostly street driven (spirited driving :D ) but during the summer i plan on doing a very small amount of drag racing at the track

Thanks,
Josh

I haven't put my shocks and springs on yet, due to time constraints and the weather up here in Canada, so take this information mostly as hearsay. Basically I will have the same combination as you, KYB AGX's and I will also be using the Eibach Pro-Kit springs. If you do some searching you will see that there are a number of people who are using this combination and quite happy with it.

Another thing that you might want to take into consideration is that apparently KYB previously had problems with the bodies of their shocks being too long causing issues where people were riding their bump stops constantly and having an all-around really harsh ride. From what I have read this has been corrected and the shocks are now a completely different part number (sorry, I don't have these part numbers for you to verify which version you have). I believe the rated drop for the Pro-Kit is 1.3". When you are installing your new shocks and springs, make sure you cut your *new* bumpstops to account for this drop, or you will have a harsh ride no matter what.

And if you're mostly doing spirited street driving (be careful), this combination should serve you well. Hope this information helped you out.

I would say get AGX's and Eibachs. They have been proven to work good and a lot of people uses them. My friend has that setup and his car rides real nice.
On the other hand, do NOT get Sprint Springs. They are the biggest piece of junk I have ever bought. I have Sprint/AGX's, the ride is ok but the springs were a booger to put on b/c they didnt fit like they should have. Also, they are really stiff.

thanks for the suggestions guys, but i have another question: is the pro-kit bouncy like some people say?

Thanks again,
Josh

Nah, it's not bouncy. I have Prokits and it's almost as smooth as stock.

Eibach Sportlines are bouncy because they lower the car onto the bumpstops, but not the Prokit.

How is the drop with the pro kit? I had them a long time ago on my Integra and it had the common pro kit "boat look" as the front appeared to be higher.

The Prokit lowers the car about 1.25" and both ends get lowered the same ammount. Sometimes it doesn't even look like it's been lowered, it just looks better, sportier, meaner, but not slammed.

Thanks for all the help guys! :thumb: i think i will get the Agx/pro-kit setup

Later,
Josh
