My brother-in-law is looking to build a full out 1g race car. A few problems are stopping him from buying the rest of the parts. The internals are fully built, he is also running a new fuel setup consisting of a Wallbro 255lhp, high horsepower fuel rail, fuel feed upgrade, and fuel pressure regulator. He is looking to run 25-40psi with a T76 turbo. Questions are as follows:

Which injectors should he run to accomidate such high boost?

Which intercooler will hold that much PSI?

Which wastegate?

Is there anything else that he should be aware of while running such a high power setup?

Needs more fuel, a less laggy turbo, and also needs to know what kind of race car hes building. On a serious note though, at least another pump and also needs to plan out a build and execute. we are all here to learn. Im learning that my DSM needs way more tlc right now then power.

His 1g is actually in perfect shape. We did a lot of body work and a lot of undercarrage work as well. Should he run 1 big wastegate or 2 smaller wastegates? He was thinking of doing dual 38mm gates set at 20 PSI each.

you cant just take a bunch of money and throw it at the car... thats how half finished projects happen. and 25 to 40 psi is a big gap... there is so much involved in running a car at 40psi. I suggest he start out small and work his way up. please dont go and turn the boost up sky high then come back here and ask why the piston shot through the block and the head is destroyed. do all the research you can before even thinking about buying parts is my best advice.

That's why I'm asking all these questions for him the only trouble were having is how to control the turbo that's it. The motor is being completely built top to bottom. Were just having trouble with the odds and ends. So with that being said can anybody help me out with figuring this stuff out?

What is he using for tuning?

What transmission is he running?

Transfer case upgrade?

Driveshaft?

Seems he is aiming pretty high for someone who does not know what wastegates and fuel system he should run. Sounds like he's got more money than knowledge. I dont know it all, but I have learned a lot over the last 7 years wrenching on my dsm.

Like said before, you cant just throw money at a car and say its gonna do things. I would definitely be considering some drivetrain upgrades, if he hasnt already?

If it were me, I would run one tial 44mm, or precision 46mm wastegate. But thats me. I am running a single 46mm wastegate on a 3065 at 30psi.

Definitely looking at a dual pump fuel system.

Good luck with the build.

Tunning is going to be DSMlink V3

Transmission is getting fully built to whatever it needs. Its an auto by the way.

Driveshaft is a full carbon shaft

Possibly 1000cc injectors.

And I told him about the dual fuel pump setup. Thanks for all the info...keep going!!!

I think he is going to need bigger than 1000cc injectors ...im planning a build for 600whp and the injectors i need are 1250cc ....he will probably need 1650cc -2250cc for the hp range u are talking about running ...here is a calculator that another member show me online.... RC Fuel Injection

...as for intercooler and waste gate set-up if money is no problem then shear fab makes a nice manifold with a twin 44mm wastegate set-up and ETS makes a nice race intercooler kit that i myself will be getting and u can get the flow on the intercooler up to 1000hp .... :D:thumb:

It really looks like you guys need to sit down and come up with a set of real attainable goals and then start reading and using the search feature on this website... or google.

+1

Mistake almost every dsm'er makes. Aims way to high, then run out of money, then a partout follows.

Well a little background for you guys to clarify a little bit. Me and my bother in law have built quite a few high horsepower cars. But the setup that he wants to run is definatley going to out-perform anything we have built. Everyone knows the motto: go big or go home. Basically his goal is not how much horsepower, but whatever is needed to break into the 9-10 second bracket at our local track. If outrageous horsepower is not needed for that, Im sure he would be willing to compromise.
