Hey, i was driving my 90 laser today, and noticed that the chest belt does not lock when i hit the brakes. The lap belt does, but i was breaking so hard that the rear wheels locked up, and still no locking on the chest belt. Any ideas? Thank you.

Thats dangerous if it wont lock up at all I'd replace it before something bad happens. Maybe the locking mechanism is broke or fubar'ed.

Agreed. That's one of those things not to ignore. To my knowledge, there are two different ways belts lock up. One being based on the car's braking and the other on pure inertia. Did you give it the snatch test yet to see if it locks that way? It's probably pretty cheep and simple to replace so better safe than sorry!

You might wanna try a junkyard first. For something like this the dealer is going to be outragous. You can call for a price but I would check around first. Might wanna go with new just for the quality.

thanks guys. i took your advice and just yanked really fast, and it locked. So maybe the brake way doesn't work, but the force way does. I feel better now!
