Guys help me here!

I have searched all over for an answer to this but my searches have not come up with much. So I am turing to you, great gurus of the DSM!

I just bought my second DSM(Im a sucker for punishment). Its a 92 1g Talon TSi AWD.

My rear window rattles and I cannot pinpoint where it is coming from other that it seems like it is th epassenger side. I have checked all my rear panels, removed the spare and emptied the trunk and I think that it may be the rear hatch but i just cant figure out where it is coming from.

It is a constant tapping sound combined with some squeeking every once in a while.

I know that this has happened to you guys! Please help me before I go crazy.
I dont have a loud exhaust to drown it out yet and my stereo system is still in the garage waiting for me to install it

My '90 has the factory plastic "spoiler/fin" thingy and it is a little loose so it rattles. Maybe that is what's doing it on yours  Something to check I guess.

Oh yes, I almost forgot. Does it do the noise when you hit bumps in the road? I had a celica that had a shock that had worn out the entire rubber grommet in the eye. Everytime I hit a little bump in the road the thing rattled like crazy.

Also, a friend had a supra where his CV joints were going out so they would click when he would go around corners.

good luck.

well i been beating on my hatch since noon and i have pinpointed it to the hatch. but i cant see what the hell can be making that noise! it rattels when it it open or closed. Its like the glass is loose but it is not.

thats it, im rolling it off a cliff! *frustrated*

Check to see if any of the lift shock attachment points are loose?

Maybe remove that plastic cover so you can see up inside the area where the wiper motor is located.

Mine does this too. Exactly the same symptoms ... seems to come from passenger side. Very loud when driving over a bumpy road. The hatch struts are new, everything loose has been removed ... still can't figure it out.

Mine does it too, phantom rattle on the pass side. it stoped for a while, then it came back... GRRRRR ITS ANNOYING!

I just turn my stereo up real loud :sneaky:

Check the strut mounts, the wiper blade pass-thru, and- check your sunroof. Some noises travel, and all the more in unibody cars.
Put a folded-over rag on the rubber bumpers the hatch seats against and see if that snubs it. If so, glue on some high-durometer foam rubber.
