I've got what i believe is a bad power window motor in my passanger door on my 92tsi. I haven't had a chance to pull the panel off yet to test the motor, but i get no noise and no response from either switch. And everything else on that door still works. My question is, Does anyone know the part #'s and prices of a new pass power window motor?

It just hit 90 today and will be there all week here, on top of that my AC isn't charged. I NEED to get this fixed, because one window open is killing me.

Here is what ya have to replace the whole rail and all, it runs on a cable top to bottom..

Ok let me explain it to u. The peice is on one solid piece. It takes like 7 to 9 bolts REALLY SIMPLE. Then you hold the glass up and slide the whole piece out. Make sure the slide is on the new one is 80% down on the slide rail. It should only take about 1 hr for a novice TO DO IT. The picture is what ## UNBOLTING...That is the motor and rail together..They do not come apart..

Thats what i didn't understand, In your earlier post you said "make sure you replace the slide rail also". So i was under the impression it was 2 peices.

Awesome then, 90 bucks for a new OEM motor. Thanks all.

So the left/right switch rule only applies to thing in the engine bay? Because i thought it was for the whole car, but i havn't studied interiors yet in school.

Hmmmm. . . I can't order both to be safe, and i need to get this taken care of before i spend this money elsewhere.

It was answered in post 12. Everything on the drivers side of the car is the left side (ex.. door, lights, seat, windows), everything on the passengerside is considered the right side of the car.

Edit: In case you still don't understand order the one for the right side.

LOL i just tot i had the same problem .You described it just like mine was but i just figured out that lock window buttom was on .It's that bottom next to the window switch. check to see if its push down.

i think most 1st gen dsms with pw's have had this window problem. so im sure everyones has figure out how to fix it, or go around it. Mine goes down real sluggishly on the driver side and comes off the track and I have to push the buttom and pull it up with my hand at the same time. The passenger side is ok though, I dunno I got used to it doin this. Your seems to be worse than mines. Once you get the panel off and everything apart I think itll make more sense to you.

Alright, here's an update for anyone who was following.

I got a new motor, took out the old one which was EFFED! Put the new one in, put the window back in. Went to use the window. . . YAY, IT GOES UP! OH SHIT! But not back down. . .

So i pull all of the switches and clean them up (except the pass. i couldn't figure how to get that one open). Reinstall. . . YAY! drivers window switch makes the pass. window go down! But not back up.

Over to the Pass. window, doesn't go down. . . BUT it goes up! HAHA!

So i have half functioning switches and a more or less functioning window.

So yeah, things kinda worked but it sounds like i've got new window switches coming in my near future.

Just so it's clear there is no left/right switch rule anywhere. On most cars everything is Drivers side = left, Passenger side = right unless it's a imported right hand drive car.

Left and right hand sides are relative to sitting in the car looking forward.

Maybe not, but we were taught in my auto classes that when someone comes in who obviously know's nothing about cars, and they say something sounds weird on "the right side" that usually means check the passenger side. Which from the hood is left.
