Alright, so I was driving to work Friday morning (lights on), I hear some buzzing, then my seatbelt tries to strangle me and my lights dim. Then a second later, All goes back to normal, but my coolant light, battery light, and brake light are on.

I tried rolling down my windows, they didn't work. Then I tried my locks and they didn't work. I got to work and tried to turn my headlights off and the lights went off, but they didn't flip back down (90 gsx flip headlights).

I popped the hood and left my car running. I disconnected the battery and the car dies- now I know its the alternator.

I changed the alternator and the popped alternator fusible link. I also found some popped fuses and changed those (belt/headlight motor fuse, anti-theft fuse, and cabin light fuse). Now everything works EXCEPT for the driver side power seatbelt and my power locks!!

I don't get it because all fuses are good, all fusible links are good, all relays are good... and besides, if the passenger side belt works, shouldn't the driver side belt work???:confused::confused:

My power locks and seatbelts worked fine before this incident yesterday... I don't know what else to check?:confused::confused:Any help would be greatly appreciated folks! Thanks!!

my power locks only work some of the time, my speakers buzz when i open the doors (but only on really hot days), as well as few other electrical quarks, and I'm pretty sure i can attribute it all to a hacked in jvc deck and speakers, theres got to be half the wires in there that dont go any where and the rest are stuck together with bubble gum. Anyway are you using the stock radio?

yah im still using the stock radio. Pretty much everything is stock except for the exhaust.

Alright so I just tried to turn my auto belts into non-auto (I figure if one doesn't work, I might as well make 'em match)by pulling out the fusible link and the passenger side belt still works...:confused::confused:

It only stops working when I pull out the fuse from the under dash fuse box, but if I do that, the headlight motors don't work either. So I donno what else to try. Any suggestions?

i would just convert to regular seatbelts, most cars in canada were sold with em, my car is from the states but has had canadian seatbelts installed. I was talking to a guy at the dsm shop in my area adn he said its pretty common for guys to come up from the states asking for them because the otherones are a pain in the a$$.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep that an option. Any ideas as to what to do about my locks/ what the problem with them is?

(Course, disconnecting the battery while the car is running isn't a good thing to do anywhos-you took it out of the charging loop of the ALT and roached the regulator.)

Instead of fussin with fuses, just pull that panel next to the back seat where the motor is and unplug the belt motor - with the seat clip fully retracted to the rear of it's travel. Then get your battery and ALT replaced and go from there to find your problem.

Leave the electrical junk alone - it was wired up the way it supposed to be.

The little motor that was in the driver side door that locks and unlocks the door
had a bad short on mine. Neither door would lock at all. Once i replaced it both
locks work perfect. Since i had it out i lithium foam type greased everything
before i put it back in. I was surprised how bound up it felt. No wonder why the
motor burned up. I am definitly going to clean the other side for sure!

I was messing around with the car today, checkin fuses and wiring and stuff (this is before I read the above suggestions) and I could find nothing wrong.

I DID, however, find something kind of peculiar... Every time I take the keys out of the car, the numbers on my clock in the radio start to fade and then they disappear...

Then, when I turn the car back on (ACC position) the clock display lights up again and the clock is reset....:confused:

I took the radio out and didn't find any faulty wiring and, as I mentioned earlier, the radio fuse is fine... Maybe this clock reset thing could be a hint as to what's going on? Any ideas anyone??

In the meantime, I'm going to check out the seatbelt and door lock motors and see if they're burnt out or not. Thanks again for all your help guys.

I just noticed something very interesting...You know when you open the door, there's no tone right?

Only when you place the key in the ignition should it make a continuous tone, right?

Well, I just noticed that after this whole thing happened, my car's ass backwards. Let me explain: When I open the door, there's a long, continuous tone, but when I put the key in, the tone stops... isn't that BACKWARDS?

What could this mean?

Alright, so I checked the seatbelt motors for current and they're getting current... but how do I jump them to make sure they're working?

I also checked to see if the door lock and sensor are working. They're getting current, but I can't jump them to see if they're working.

I suspect that the door sensor is what is broken, though. Does anybody know where I can get those?
