Ok guys, I have been having problems with the jay racing alt/relocation kit. It has been really noisy, chattering on the back of the block. The peice that bolts to the back of the block and the rod that adjusts the belt, bolts to.
Where the bracket is on the block and the angle of the adjuster, makes it pretty hard to adjust the belt also.

So did some "customiseing" and came up with a new bracket for adjusting the belt, and you don't have to remove the intake manifold to install now!
This was so easy to do without any welding, just a vice, a hammer, and a drill. Now for the steel that I used, 1/8 thick by 1 1/2" wide peice of steel, and around 4 1/2" long. So I put it in the vice and bent it to around a 40* angle not quite a 45*, and drilled two holes so I could bolt it in with the driver side motor mount bolts. You will see in the pictures what i'm talking about, and if you have the 1g alt relocate kit you will know what a pain it is to adjust the belt!

Please let me know what you guys think, and hope to help someone else out with the same problems that I have been having.. And better yet, maybe Jay Racing can upgrade their kit, and hook me up for coming up with it!!!:D Also If anyone would like this upgraded adjuster bracket, pm me and I can give you a price for one shipped!!! Kit would come with, Pre made bracket, and the bolt and nut for the adjuster rod, I already have 10 made and ready to be shipped!

Did you contact JR about this particular issue you were having with their kit?

Did you contact JR about this particular issue you were having with their kit?

Sure did, I have to email them pics, of what I did. Contacting them wont do to much because, its still going to be a pain to adjust the belt and now its not!

I have this kit also and did a few modifications as well. On a 2g (don't know about 1g), you can't use the relocation kit on the outer side of the crank pulley. The alternator won't clear the unibody. If you have a manual rack, you're essentially ####ed because you have nothing to tension the water pump with, unless you use the smaller PS pulley. This underdrives the water pump to something like 16,000rpm at redline :/ .

That, and they sent the wrong size belt with the kit.
