hi, im going to the junkyard to find a head to rebuild for my 97 gst 7bolt. which 1g heads will work, 1g turbo, 1g non turbo, is the 1g 6bolt motor head the same as the 1g 7bolt head? but mainly i need to know if the 1g nt head will work as good as the 1g turbo head and is it different than the turbo head, also will my 2g cams work better then the 1g cams if i were to put them in the 1g head. thanks.

Dont bother just yet w/ a 7 bolt head. Just get a 6 bolt head. The holes are bigger in a 6bolt. 12mm vs. 11mm. and the ports are larger stock on a 6 bolt head. The difference in the turbo and non turbo head is 1. the oil feed line for the turbo, its not there. It might be there, but it might be blocked, Ive seen both so im not 100% on that one. 2. the cams for a turbo and NT are different. I think you can use your 2G cams, but again, not 100% on that one.

yeah, im gonna get the 1 g head, not the 2g head but will the 2g cams fit in the 1g nt and the 1g t head. and if the only difference in the nt is the lack of an oil feed hole for the turbo, i can use the oil filter housing port on my 7bolt cant i? the reason im asking is cause there is a lot more nt's there then there are turbos, so i might be stuck with the nt head.

yeah those are nice heads but there bout 350 bucks more than i want to spend, just gonna pick up one for like 30 or 40 on the monthly 1/2 price pick n pull sale here in fresno and deck it and put my cams in it.

wow you can get heads that cheap in fresno wow man i need to start heading up that way over here there about a 150-200

shit im heading up to hanford next weekend ill swing by there and see when it is so i can get me a dohc head to this conversion i been wanting to do thanks

no problem, would you happen to know if the 2 g cams will gointo the 1g nt head, and if so can i use the filter housing oil outlet since the nt head dosent have one, and are the nt ports and the t ports the same size?

Yes 2g cams will work, its still the same basic motor 6 or 7 bolt 1 or 2g. As far as using a non-turbo head yeah you can do that too. I actually have a head from a 1.8 Hyundai on mine, junk yard 40 bucks.(any dsm or Hyundai with a 4g63 and some Hyundai 1.8 liter motors will work, just look for the familiar valve cover) It has the oiling hole there and it flows, but i moved mine to the oil filter housing, you get cleaner, filtered oil so i here. Hope this helps.

the oil feed is still there.it just has a banjo bolt blocking it.take out that bolt and put your oil feed line and bolt on it.and your cams will bolt in,1g and 2g.its exactly the same, turbo or not.i have both.
