I bought the car from a kid and just finally got the head to the shop and they said the head has been shaved down as far as it can go but they have a plate they can put on there to add some space. Think that is a good idea most hp i will have is 400. Also does anyone know where to get a close to oem valve stem guides and seals. Thanks.

Try Jnztuning.com they carry a lot of oem parts.

what about the plate that will go under the head becasue it needs to be shaved again but then will be to small the shop says they have a plate that will make it normal size good idea or no?

There is a member on here call BogusSVO he is a machinist, he'll most likely have you answer.

The plate you are asking about is called a "Head saver shim" basicly its a thin MLS HG that you will stack a HG on.

How thin is the head?

About the guides, any decent make of replacement guide will work.
Get a full set of 16 of the blue viton valve stem seals.

i just know that i need that plate my dad has it all a few hours away, would that plate be ok to use? i can find a head around where i live and i dont have alot of money to just get a new head.

You can use it if you like, But make sure both mating surfaces are perfect.

If you have the stock 6 bolt bottom end, 7.8:1 cr, the thinner head will bring the CR up some.

Ok that is one piece of the puzzle.

What is the head thickness?

The general rule of thumb is for every .007 milled from the head , closes the combustion chamber by 1cc.

The most accurate way to find the combustion chamber CC is to measure it.

With you running the 8.3:1 CR pistons, you should be fine running a thinner head CR wise.

Do you have adjustable cam gears?
