Alright guys, I have a 1g dsm (as it says in my profile) and I'm just wondering if any of you know the speaker sizes I would have to buy to replace mine. Like what is the size of the speakers all the way up in front right under the windshield? They may be tweeters I believe?the door speakers size and the back speaker size? Im planning on gettin some rockfrod fostgate speakers to replace the oens currently in my car. Thanks for any reply :thumb:

Well i think for your year the front door might be 6 1/2". apologies for a late response.

1g's are friggin trippy when it comes to speaker sizes. Every online database had it wrong for my car... which means I wasted useless money on speakers that wouldnt fit.

My car had:
4" Front Dash
5 1/4" Doors (Even though everyone said they were 6 1'2")
6 1/2" rears.

My suggestion is take off the panels and look. There is no other surefire way to find out.

the speakers were arranged differently for what ever stock sterio your car came with.

all i know is that the casset player with graphic equalizer comes with

4" dash
5 1/4" door\
6x9 rear

According to rockford fostgate, I have 4" up front, 6.5 in the doors and 6x9 in the back, I think 93-94 differ from 90-92, even if you look at the door panels, the outline for the speakers look smaller.

Everyone says that the rear is 6x9 but i have a 1991 Talon and in order to put my sony 6x9s in i had to cut the metal bracket for the speaker so it would fit properly.... did anyone else have to do this?

Can you tell me what you did to the sony's in more detail please! I have the same ones and they stick out like a biotch. I can't put my back pannels in until I get them in right or get new speakers

yea i have sony xplods and i just took the speaker bracket out and then traced the size of the 6x9 on it and then scroll sawed and dremmeled the bracket so the speaker would fit.... the bracket should be deep enough but you will have to make a new wiring harness for the speaker because they won't connect up to the speaker... it's easy.... i also had to dremmel out some of the plastic panel because the mid and high stuck out just a little to far.

Thanks for the info but my problem is that the speakers are too deep they don't go flush into the hole

yeah my infinity 6x9 perfects were doing the same thing so it was time to get out the hammer and make a few dents they will fit

 :laser:

I just bought a pioneer box set with a touch screen dvd player headunit, 2-6.5 in speakers, and 2-6x9 in speakers. I'm certain my front stocks were 6.75 cause the new pioneers seem to be a little small. I'm just gonna drill new holes. I didn't realize I had tweeters til I was wiring the new head unit in LOL.

3.5 dash, 6.5/6.75 doors, 6x9 rears. Id recommend tweeters for the dash, crossovered with 6.5 door and 6x9 rears. Instead of paralleling the fronts, secure the fronts with crossovers to the dash speakers/tweaters and full range to the rest.

Speaker treat with dyanamat and speaker buckets for best sound.

I have speaker buckets, but cannot afford dynamat. I have a bunch of left over studio quality soundproofing foam from a musician friend building a vocal booth. I have my carpet out for cleaning and plan to cover my floor and underneath my backseat with it. I also just ordered 2-2 way pioneer bullet tweeters and a 8 inch low profile pioneer sub in a prebuilt enclosure. Get 'em Wednesday. :D

The Polk Audio MM691 6" X 9" 3 Way Speakers fit perfectly in the oem 1g rear 6x9 mounting structure. They use a small neodymium magnet so you don't have to hammer-out your wheel well.

I have a extra set of 6x9 mounting brackets if anyone is interested...
