speaker sizes and depths?

i just recently picked up my 91 talon tsi (automatic) and it currently doesnt have a radio. its still got the speakers in it, but i havent checked them (didnt care to)
the guy i got the car from said he was pretty sure they were still stock.

anyways, theres the slot for the head unit, and below it is the factory cassette player..
but what i really need to know.. is what size speakers are actually in the doors, and in the rears? and even more important, what is the maximum depth for these locations?

now, i was on crutchfield.com.. and (if i had the right option) it said 6.75" doors, 6.75" rears.

i have a set of PPI components (6.5") in the neon that id like to yank out and put into the talon, but if they wont fit (2 and 13/16 mounting depth.. quite a big a round magnet too) then i wont bother trying.

power windows if it matters.

dash speakers are 4", doors are 5.25", but can be modified to fit a 6.5" speaker. i've got a set of Boston Pro 6.5" mid bass in my doors now. The rears in my car are 6x9's. Someone mentioned that their 1G came with 6.5". I've never seen/heard of 6.5" speakers in the rear, i've always seen 6x9.

My 93 Talon ES has 6.5's in the rear. The speaker cover looks like there would be a 6x9 in the rear but when I took a look at it, it was definately a round speaker. I was told it could be modified to fit a 6x9 which is what I'll end up doing. I thought that the speakers in the doors were 6.5's also (that's what the computer thing at Best Buy said) but I haven't taken it apart to find out.

if you really want some 6x9's in back, just get the mounting plate for them that is found in the turbo or 2.0L dsm's. It's just a mounting plate/bracket that bolts to the body of the car. Prolly get a couple out of the junkyard for a few bucks.

i wouldnt mind 6x9s in the rear.. i could (hopefully, if theres enough room) transfer the kenwoods from the neon, into the talon (which, is turbo btw. tsi, awd, turbo, automatic)
what kinda modification for the doors is needed to fit the 6.5's?
and will i run into problems of the window not coming all the way down?? the 6.5" PPI's in the neon have a fairly sizable magnet.

for the 6.5's, i had to use a 1/2" spacer, along with cutting the plastic from the back of the door panel. The bottom of the door panel prolly won't clip into place on the very bottom, but will everywhere else. NO issues with the window at all.

damn. same thing i had to do with the neon (1/2 inch spacer) except the panel clips down fine in the neon.

hrm. looks like ill just run the existing speakers in there for now, and get some others for that location eventually.
