1G 1G dsm NO tach signal with aftermarket ignition

Installed some coils with their own ignitors and now since there is no more factory transistor, the tach isn't working.

Any way to get the tach working w/o having to go with aftermarket tach?

It all depends on how you wired them in. There are tach adapters that MSD and others sell that may do the trick. Or it may just be a matter of adding some wiring to what you already have.

Are your coils directly wired to the ECU outputs? stock ECU or aftermarket?

Yes, the coils are wired directly into aem series 1 ems. I have a serial gauge that displays rpm from the ems, it just feels weird driving around with a dead tach in the dash. Lol

You shouldn't need the tach adapter with an AEM. There are instructions on an ATDSM website about hooking up CDIs. They show how you can change the AEM tach input into an output, and drive the tach directly through the AEM, no other wiring should need to be altered.
