Resolved 1G Does it matter what year ECU you get?

i was just wondering if it maters what year ecu you get?i have a 90 eclipse fwd with a 90 talon turbo motor,so does it matter or can i get any that is fwd 90-94 :thumb:

I'll save you the effort of searching for one of the hundreds of posts on this question, yes '90s are unique and need a '90 ECU for everything to work without modification to the ignition system to make the tach work correctly. If your looking for a Turbo ECU you most likely want one of the two Federal versions, MD145093 or MD128625.

If you don't mind swapping Power Transistor Modules and rewiring the connectors you can use one of the 91-93 turbo ECUs. The '94 ECU's all use the EGR sensor like the earlier California cars and would cause a CEL without one.

If you have put a turbo engine in a NT car, Do you have to change out the wiring harness as well to be able to use the turbo engine and computer? Just wondering about this, I am still learning about the different computers and such for our cars... Thanks Steve... :dsm:
 
No you don't have to swap out the harness but you do need to add some wiring and redo the injector wiring for the resistor pack.

If your considering a swap a good investment would be the Factory Service Manual so you can figure out the differences.
