finally got my friends 90 GST running. Figured out that the crank trigger plate was installed backwards. Basically I aligned the cams, then used screw driver method to find TDC. Car fired right up and seems to be running good. Heres the issue, I was gonna fix the crank plate but when I came back to my friends house he had already put everything back together. Balance shafts are deleted so no BS belt so my question is it ok to run the car with it installed backwards or fix it now? His thinking was it's running good and we'll fix it next T-belt job. Do you think this would be ok or could this cause serious issues? Thanks

It doesn't really trigger anything, but the timing mark is there and it is keyed to the crank. So, if you timed it correctly with that installed incorrectly, you may be ok. Not sure if there will be any clearance issues as it is not completely flat. Maybe with no BS belt you are ok? Never done this myself.

Yeah I was thinking of the 2G when I labeled it as a trigger plate. If it were my car I would go ahead and do it right. However, I do think it will be fine since thats how it was when he got it and it ran good. Who knows how long it's been that way... but I just wanted to check because this could be one of those things thats fine for a little while and then destruction. Thanks for your input.
