Hello, after about a year of messing around with the eclipse, I finally came to starting it. It is a 1995 gsx shell, 97 wiring harnesses, 6 bolt engine. Complete Frankenstein I know. It is on ecmlink v3 with a 95 ecu. Only way I can get it to fire up is with the non 95/96 cam sensor checked in Ecmlink, but with the wires in oem order, not the swapped order. When the wires are swapped, the car just cranks and occasionally backfires. Why could this be?

Have you tried these firing orders?
Have you inspected the ignition resistor pack? If a resistor pack goes bad usually they will drop 2 cylinders and the engine will severely struggle to run. Try posting a log since you have link.

Yes I have tried both wire routing. But the only way the engine will start is with the stock routing. The engine does sound like it’s down a cylinder or two when running.

Hmm, I have already flipped the cas in both ways possible at tdc and had gotten nowhere. With the plug wires swapped and cas inverted in link. Right now with the wires in stock order cylinder numbers 2&3 aren’t firing but getting spark in both. Must have something to do with timing. Will check the cas one more time.

Ok, looks like we got in squared away! The issue was 100% my fault. I was putting the set of wires on the wrong coil without realizing because of the coil pack relocation kit. Now engine runs smooth and revs quick. Thanks for all the help guys. Now just got dial in idle and get timing squared away.
