Hi everyone I am currently building a 1g Talon, going to do what I have been told is the impossible and put the awd suspension from a 2g into it, also doing a mild build on the 4g63 so this starts the fun

Hi, like the other guy said good luck. This post should of probably been in the introduction section i think, anyways that aside who ever said that job was impossible never met a dsm'r with a idea and a welder LOL :sneaky:

Right I said tell me I cant.. I will do anything possible to prove you wrong, measuring the width of the strut towers it seams possible, the only issue I am going to run into on the swap is that the 1g isn't the strongest on the strut tower bracing so I am going to have to "beef" it up a little

And to answer why not use the 1g AWD components it actually looks easier to use the 2g, as it is a cradle vs welded to body

I was planning on going to a stronger lsd set up, and also with what I have planned for the way the car will run I have a feeling I am going to also have to strengthen up the sub frame a little, do you or anyone know where I can get a pre formed weld in roll bar? if not I can make one just trying to be lazy if I can be which looks very unlikely:ohdamn:

I personally don't know where you can get one, but surely someone else does. Are you planning for the car to be a cruise, a show car, or a race car? Reason why i ask is that you can add tubes under the car and basically build a frame there instead of having the frame in the car, unless you just like the look of a cage/bar inside.

Floor pan swap is probably going to be the hardest part of this swap, definitely should think about geting a 1g donor car so you have everything you need, good luck sir keep us posted.

Well I actually am in the process of getting a 95 2g donar car, as it is stripped, which will give me all the 2g parts I will need for the 1g, the only thing it looks like I am going to have to cut is where the 1g has the lower rear lateral bars, due to the fact that the 2g is a cradle or at least that's what it looks like really wont know till I have them both here to look a little closer, that should be next Monday

bastarddsm did a nt, turbo'd and awd swaped it. are you going to do a fuel cell or stock tank. the rear floor pans for the spare tire are different. the center hump dosent have studs for the drive shaft either. if you look through bastarddsm's posts there is a bunch of helpfull info. i was going to do it but i snaged a awd cheap from a local guy on craigslist.
good luck it can be done.

I am going to relocate the stock tank where the spair tire is, and I have seen a few people do the 1g awd swap to from another 1g but no 2g's with the cradle swap, around here in the local club I was told it could not be done because they are two different bodies, but as I said the measurements on the two cars are pretty close within a 1/64th of an inch so I think I can make it work

Thanks at least I get some support on this swap, everyone here is telling me instead of building one just go buy a awd one, but I don't see a challenge in buying one when I can custom make one to my specs,
