Awd Transmission swap? 1g 2g ?

Will a 1g awd trans bolt up to a 2g awd car ?

I drained 2nd gear today :/ so need a transmission..
a friend has a 1g awd trans.. but will it fit & work in my 2g ?!?

I have a 95 talon tsi awd.. if that helps at all..

This is correct, the 1g trans case does not have the bolt holes for the front and rear roll stops.

^^ Indeed.. A 2g trans will work in a 1g but not vise versa.. As said above the 1g trans doesnt have the roll mount bolt holes.

The silver is likely aluminum from a broken shift fork. Take it apart, clean it and fix it.

Maybe so, but seems unlikely.. I will probably just buy a good working used trans from the graveyard... and then re-build mine for some real power down the road.

I hope to have this car somewhere in the 500hp range..

Actually, my friend has a 1g tranny in his 2g, it has a 6 bolt block so he modified a set of 1g roll stops to fit up to the 2g mounting locations. It's a bit of work but it can be done if you have metalwork/welding skills.

Unless im off my rocker, the 1g trans is stouter. And probably easier to find. So probably is worth it if your trans is scrapped.

You're off your rocker ;-).... The 1g transmissions aren't really any stronger...and in some cases they are much weaker...(22 spline)

But they are definitely easier to find...so I guess you're not too far gone .... I'm Just messing ..
