I'm looking for an affordable big brake kit for the quarter mile. I'm making 470awhp an planning on running low 11s to high 10s. And I'm pretty sure that the stock brake system will not cut it. I rather be safe then sorry. I searched a little bit but /i'm sorta in a hurry because I would like to make it to the shootout at E Town on the 18th. Any advice would be great. Also I have a 17" wheel.

Thanks.

Well, the dual pot calipers and some Hawk HPS pads will slow you down pretty well if you are in the 11's but do not slow you down as quick as you can get up to speed. I went with the 3KGT VR4/EVO Brembo's and 13" cobra rotors. Made some rotor centering rings and put it together. Buy some brackets to mount the calipers to the hubs and good bolts. You can do this from $350 to $600. With new hawk HPS pads I wound up with about $425 in the set up.

I put some picts in my gallery if you want to see them.

I would imagine the dual piston factory big brake upgrade from a 92+ AWD DSM or a N/T Stealth/3kgt would be all you'd need for a street/strip car. You could get some more aggressive pads for that set up and be just fine. If you wanted to spend some extra money, you could go with a Baer kit, but even that would be overkill for a drag car I think.

Wow, evidently they're still overstocked so the price is still good even if the shipping is a little high. Well, they're giant chunks of iron so I guess it isn't THAT high really. Bump for the summertime upgrade crowd. Oh, and if anyone is looking to go 2 piston, a little cross ref searching on e-bay may surprise you. I'm finding calipers rebuilt and outright for less than NAPA core prices. It won't be one stop shopping as some of these guys are selling out of one side and selling the other for dirt cheap... As in $35 shipped for a RF caliper w/bracket!!! It arrived 3 days after I ordered it too. I'm looking at LF 3000gt calipers now for $38.09 shipped, just making sure they're not banjo bolt or anything. So if the 3000gt caliper comes w/bracket as well it'll be under $160 for an all Mitsu new/rebuilt Big Brake kit. Oh yeah, the calipers are coming loaded but I don't know if TRW uses ceramic pads on their loaded calipers. Still thought I'd give the heads up to anyone looking for the upgrade though.

Yeah I would think the factory "big" dual piston calipers and larger rotors with a good set of pads should suffice

Just installed a set up new big brakes calipers in my 1g with hawk pads and brembo oe rotors. I stop pretty damn quickly.

My buddy has the 4-piston 3kgt calipers and his ride stops on a dime.

For budget the both are amazing setups, all Mitsubishi components. OEM rocks

is there a difference between the dual piston setup for the 1g's in other words I upgraded my 1990 to dual piston calipers.(car came that way) are there more different dual caliper setups out there that are dual piston for the 1g's 9need to replace rotors all around.
also is there different rear rotor differences for the 1g's 1990-1994.

thanks for the help in advance..

Hard to say what you have, but chances are they are from the 94+AWD or Diamante.
