1G's all grind and ####ing suck. 2G's are smooth like butter. Honestly all I know is you can put a 2G tranny in a 1G with a lot of work, but theres no way in hell a 1G will go in a 2G, something to do with the mounts.

i recently asked about this and this is what i got

2g trannys have three motor mounts as where the 1g has the mounts on the engine block. they are basically the same tranny just where it mounts is different.

you can put a 2g tranny in a 1g since the 1g engine block holds three of the motor mounts

if you tried to put a 1g tranny in a 2g the engine mounts will have to be modified and it is not even worth trying. also the inner CV join or cup will also have to be changed..

The engine has different mounting points. The 1G has an extra mounting bracket on the engine while the 2G relocated one point on to the transmission. This is also why you can't put a 2g motor in a 1g

i know this is kinda out of subject in a way but how bout the diff. between a 2g manual awd and a 2g AT awd? thnx guy i may do the swap but im makin a pros and cons list
