1G & 2G transfer case differences?

I had the t-case to my 1G and the one for my 2G sitting next to each other on the same shelf all last winter, and now I can't remember which is which. I count 23 splines on each, and I can't determine any other physical difference between the two.

Are these identical? If not, how can I tell them apart?

Well, the gear ratios are the same if they're both off a MT AWD.

Should be identical. If they have the same gear ratios and same spline count, they would technically be identical.
