Hello all,

I'm new to these forums but I've had a little experience with DSM's and I must say, I absolutely love them.

I have a few questions, they may seem kind of absurd, but please don't get PO'd, I'm just a very curious person.

I was thinking, of doing a bit of a swap, actually, a full swap, I like the 4G63's alot but I was thinking of going a little bit more,

I know of places where I could get skyline motors, it almost seems ludacris to the idea, but I was thinking of maybe picking up a 95 GSX shell and converting it,

hoping to maybe swap in a form of a skyline engine and maybe a Shepherdson Stage 3 Tranny, I haven't done a huge amount of research but I know Shepherdson deals mainly with DSM so it might be kind of hard for this to work, but I'm thinking that I could possibly get a Skyline motor, or another motor of this performance level to fit into the bay of a GSX, now, what would the problems be with this?

Any suggestions, comments, would be greatly appreciated, keep in mind, this is just an off the top of the head idea, to me it sounds like alot of fun, a very unique type of way to do something, I am in no means trying to offend anyone by saying I don't like what 4G63's or other DSM engines have to offer, I'm just curious.

Thanks again.

well it does sound like a new unique idea but the custom fab that you would have to do is way to much and for the price your going to pay for th SR20DET or whatever motor, tranny, driveline, etc your could build a very nice built even stroker 4g63. Im not saying its possible but it would be a task for the tranny fittment and clearence issues.

Diffidently isn't going to be easy or cost effective or smart.. LOL its not alot of things.. It is shepherd not shepherdson.. He doesn't do trannies that are outside the mitsu family and a trans for the rb would probably have to be used with the rb.. You would do a rediculous amount of work.. motor mounts, ecu, driveshaft, rear end, axles, engine harness, fabing up mounts all over the place.. Way to much work to put a rb in the dsm.. The 4g63 has been proven,

I was just thinking about it some more and yeah you are right, it would be an insane amount of work, an insane amount of money, but it can be done, like I said, my buddy has a 95 GSX with the 4g63 and man, its a great car, I was just talking to him about it and like you guys said, it can be done, worth it, not likely, unless I'm making great money, which is a no =P, hah just a question thats all, thanks for giving some input though, its greatly appreciated it, although if it were done, that'd be a quick car.

Would be unique that's foresure, but a 4g63 can handle any power you want to throw its way with the propper build, and it will cost much less than an RB swap.

I was thinking that too, but I really like DSM and 240's to me, they just don't look like something I could see myself driving you know? I mean, I'd rather have 95 GSX with a 6-bolt swap and some supporting mods then going out and getting a 240sx, I just like how 2g eclipses look and how they ride, I don't know, it's all preference pretty much.

keep the 4g63, come visit me and give me the extra money that would have been spent on the swap :thumb: haha kidding. GSX's kick ass and I'd love to have another DSMer in the area. I have a 420a though.

When a built RB car goes faster than a built 4g63 car is when that swap will be a good idea, before that happens you'll just be swapping a great motor for a lesser one.

That's modding backwards.

Woah, I didn't even realize you lived out here, thats kinda nice to know that there are atleast a few other DSM fanatics in the area, I mean I'm relatively new to the whole deal but its cool so far, I'm not sure why I was thinking so far ahead as it was, I need to get my hands on a dsm as it is. hah

And good call Locke, I've got a few good ideas for the 4g63 setup that I want, I just need to pickout the car yet, I'm thinking first gen talon or second gen eclipse?

Yeah there's actually a lot of people from the area on here. Check out the widsm forums while youre at it, lotsa local information on there. I'd love to have a GSX but you cant beat a GS for $1 with 55k miles on it. (Gotta love your grandma)

Yeah I'll deff check that out, and oh deff, Grandmas always come in handy aha, plus, we all gotta have a daily driver. I'm sure the gas mileage is rockin.
