1994 tsi slips in third and overdrive?

So my talon TSI is slipping in third and fourth gear, it is an automatic transmission, and it is fine in reverse and in first to second, BUT, it will jerk violently putting it in reverse and in other neutral, drive and park are okay. what could be causing this? i checked the fluid and made sure its full and it is red and not stinky. it also jerks when downshifting through basically all four of the gears. if that helps.

When was the last time you had the fluid changed? It sounds like 3rd and 4th have some burnt clutch packs.... Might be time for a transmission rebuild. Sorry.

I would change your fluid and make sure your trans filter is not clogged. If everything comes back good then it could be time to open that trans and take a look inside
