1994 Eagle Talon AC Overhaul

After leak testing my 94 ES I discovered that there was a hole in the Condenser. I also see that there is a sticker on the inside of my hood that says that this is an R12 system. From what I understand R12 was phased out in 94 in favor of R134a. In doing this test I noticed that my car appeared to already be 'retrofitted' for 134a. I had it tested around 2 years ago and I think that they may have done this without informing me. The problem that I am having now is I purchased a new condenser 'R12' and neither fittings (accumulator/high side) bolt up. The threads are too big on the fittings...What should I do? What are the key differences between the R12 and the R134 condensers?

If the condenser is for a 94 it should bolt right up. There is no real difference in how r134 systems work compared to r12, the condenser should work the same. I would just return it and get one from a yard, then you know it will bolt right up. Maybe they changed the fittings to force you to replace all of the components, I'm not sure.

Thanks for the reply. I actually found the manufacturer's website. It looks like he sent me the wrong part. The inlet's and outlet's are different for the R12 and the R134a condensers..
