I've been searching for a few hours now so I give up and decided to write this...

A guy is selling a 1990 Talon TSI AWD so I go and look at it. I opened up the hood and noticed the throttle body had all 4 vac lines on top and seemed to have a 91+ tps and fuel rail. I checked the door and the build date is Nov of 1990. The speedometer also starts at 0. The question is, is this a 91 and not a 90? I could provide some pics of the engine bay, gauge cluster if that would help. Any help would be great.

isnt it normally after the 8th month its the next year? dont mark my word on it but im pre sure thats what it is

Nope, the DSM Plant usually switched production over the beginning of June with 1G's and beginning of July with the 2G's

Anything after the 6th month of the year will be the following year model,so nov.1990 is actually a 91 model.Even july 1990 wouls be considered as a 91.

With that build date it is almost definitely a 91. Check the vin to be sure of course but I would be willing to bet that it is a 91.

Then I got an oddball question that pertains to this. The production date on my 2g is July '95 and the car is registerd and tittled as a '96. My question is was there ever any '96s that were built with an eprom? If there ever was a '96 with an eprom I believe mine to be it.
