ok first off... i searched with no results. i own a 1990 eclips gs 2.0 turbo. i used to work on it for a guy who drag raced it. after sitting at our shop (motion concept performance) i asked the guy if he wanted to sell it. i bought it for a thousand with the following mods... br 3 inch downpipe with thermal r&d exhaust.. 20g mitsu turbo 2g ported exhaust manny with hks external wastegate, aeromotive fpr, walboro 255, and an e-prom ecu. now the guy said that the e-prom that is in the car was made like four years ago by some company that no longer makes the e-proms. i guess the big deal about the e-prom thats in this car is that the tune is for a max performance on 550 cc injectors, the fuel cut is eliminated, and the rev limit is set at 8000. i did something to the motor dogging it and i just bought a 97 gst from a member on here that supposedly threw a rod. NOW HERE IS MY QUESTION... what do i have to do to have the same kind of ecu that i have in my 90? i read something about the 1990 ecu being different than any other year with reading rpm signals or something... but im assuing my 90 ecu wont work in my 97? also all my mods should swap over except the exhaust correct? kinda stuck here... i have read a bunch on doing the six bolt swap and i just want to hear from some guys on here some of the snags they have run into. after all the forums are about the dedicated guys spelling out their mistakes to set up the newbs and followers for success!! also please point me in the direction of some threads that might help me out... in the meantime ill keep searching!

You can't do anything (at the moment) with a 1997 ECU. They don't have a chip, and they can't be flashed. You either need to get a 1995 EPROM-type ECU and get a chip or DSMLink, or get a 1998/99 flash ECU.
So, what happened to your 1990? That was probably a TMO chip in it, long gone. Stock maps, which were really only good for racegas. You running it on pumpgas with too much boost is what did you in.
RACE CAR = RACE GAS
PUMPGAS = BOOM

well that sucks.... guess ill be looking into an e-prom ecu for a 2nd gen.. oh well anyone want a 1990 e-prom ecu with a chip? 200 bucks!!!
