190 Rewired or 255 w/ FPR

Ok, I am about 2 weeks away from dropping my Evo 16G into my FWD Eclipse, Have all supporting mods now except that now I can't decide between 190 or 255....I don't care how loud any of these go..It is just that money is kinda tight right now and that I have heard with a 255...I would have to look into a FPR...what are the chances I would need one? because if I don't then 255 would be fine. Then again will 190 be fine? Confused....thanks in advance

If your cash is tight, get the 190. It can be used w/o an afpr and would work pretty well for your fuel needs. A rewire is always a good idea. I have detailed instructions on this that I can send if you want them. Let me know.

The 190 will flow plenty for your setup. If you're worried, then ya do the rewire. But you will be fine. If you're like me, I like to plan ahead. If I were you I'd get the 255 because I don't want to have to upgrade the fuel pump AGAIN later on in the future. That's just how I am. But with a 16g setup, you'll be fine with a 190. Good luck man!

A re-wired 190LPH will put out more than people give it credit for.

You, however, won't have to re-wire it if you don't want to.

I'd still recommend rewiring whatever fuel pump you decide to go with though, just because it's basically "free" extra fuel! I mean, of course a 190 rewired doesn't flow as much as a 255, but it's still more flow for dirt cheap. And yeah a 190 will be fine for your needs.

I think paying more than the price of the fuel pump for a FPR is silly. Just get a 190lph rewired. If people run 550whp+ on a 255, theoretically the 190lph should be good for around 400whp, and that's plenty.

my 255 isnt loud atall, allthough if you think about it, a 255 is the same price as a 190, and a FPR is a good tool tohave, just get the 255 and by an fpr

Your 190 will suffice for now. If the 255 is what you really want, go ahead and save a bit of money, then buy it. You won't -need- it right now, you've got plenty of time.

well depending on your mods/car, some people use just a 255 and no fpr and have no problems doing it. Right now my 255 is installed with no FPR, however my car is parked for amonth so I only ever idle it, I asume if i drove it with no aftermarket fpr it would runn really rich.

base fuel preasure for a 2g is 43 psi, you could be way above that, or safly around it, there no way of knowing without a FPR and a fuel presure gauge.

Now that u have a 255, def get a fpr

Dont get the B&M fpr, I have the aeromotive, it seems to be very popular, allthough it is abit pricy, I paid $210 can. for mine. and the fuel presgauge screws right onto it, gauge was $30

Isnt base pressure for a 1g 37psi? I know that my fuel pressure gauge reads 45 psi with my 255 in with no afpr. Im probably just going to go back to stock, since im on a 14b with 15 lbs anyways.

thats on your car, others will be slightly different, and react different. you'll need to adjust the fuel presure when increasing boost/modding and tuning the car.


Your car could be running rich at idle.
