i have decided on either the walbro 190 or the 255 for a fuel pump. I want to know if i need a fpr for these fuel pumps. I have an evo 3 16g turbo and this will be the biggest turbo i get. Right now i have a rewired stock fuel pump and i hit fuel cut at about 12 lbs of boost. I have heard it is possible to get to 400 hp on a walbro 190 and i would be fine with that. Also when should i upgrade injectors.

after lots of searching lots of searching i never really found a good solid answer.

You shouldn't be hitting fuel cut at 12psi on a 16g. You shouldn't be hitting fuel cut at all for that matter. I run 17 psi on my big16g with stock rewired fuel pump with no problems what so ever. You may want to check your car for boost leaks and things of that sort. I would recommend the 190 if you are going to keep your 16g. It is a good pump and will flow more than enough for your turbo. I would suggest getting a datalogger of sorts though first to check knock/timing/duty cycle and whatnot so you know exactly what your car is doing. It is a big help in the tuning department. I thought I had a good setup on my car with just an SAFC1 then I got a datalogger and shaved .4 off of my 1/4 time because I had a few hitched in the upper rpm region that I couldn't feel. I would recommend switching to 550's as soon as you get some sort of tuning device, SAFC or something along those lines.

i am running 14lbs now and on hard launches i hit fuel cut then when i shift it will have little hickups at about 6,000 rpms and so i shift at like 5,500 rpms, i have a logger and i run 93 octane gas and the knock stays below 5. but does the 190 need a fuel pressure regulator?

Not really. Even a 255 doesn't if you don't get the high pressure one. Your "fuel-cut" may be something else. What plugs are you running? Should be running a colder plug with your mods.

Both 255 will overrun the stock regulator just the same, HP version will maintain the pressure better in HIGH BOOST applications.

danyz250f, fuel cut has nothing to do with your ability to supply fuel, it's triggered solely by air count. Are you sure you're not mistaking fuel cut with fuel starvation/bogging?

so a walbro 190 would be good enough for a evo 3 16g at 20 lbs with 3 inch turbo back exhaust. i just want to get rid of the sputtering and and jerking when i am at full throttle, and i have stock ngk plugs but i replaced my plugs and wires a month ago, and i just replaced my fuel filter and that helped alto.

Yes a 190 will be more than enough for you and no you will not need a AFPR.

As stated Fuel Cut is not caused by lack of fuel so therefore simply putting in a fuel pump will not fix your problem.

Hitting fuel cut at lower boost levels usually means you have a boost leak somewhere.

so i need to get the 190 and look for a boost leak and hopfully that will et the problem fixed. My friend put a 14b on his 95 gst and he has the same problem at like 10 lbs with a 1g bov. So that means he probably has the same problem.

I'm using a 190 with a similiar setup (Buschur big 16g) I'm with the 450's and running 18 psi and hitting no fuel cut thus far.
